"Capable low-cost GPS with very few shortcomings"
Pros: North America and Canada with expansive POI, quick calculation and startup
Cons: Route avoidence clunky.
Summary: This unit functions well as a GPS for car, but doesn't have information for footpaths or other non-road routes. That aside, this unit was designed for the in-car market and it works remarkably well as an "out of the box" solution. Within minutes of turning the unit on, I felt as if I could use it to go anywhere I desired. The large display and simply touch-screen led me to feel comfortable very quickly. The included home charger is a nice addition (rather than making you purchase it as an accessory).
I have used this device to travel all over the Eastern seaboard and into the near midwest with very high accuracy. On only one occassion did the unit depict me in a location I was not (during a cloverleaf it thought I was taking an exit ramp), but it corrected itself within about three seconds. I live in a relatively new area with many very recent road which are all included and accurate on the maps card.
The Voya 350 has only two weaknesses I've found in terms of being a voice-prompted GPS unit. First, the detour and route avoidance are a little tricky to get to. After plotting your trip you have to go back to your destination selection and find "avoid roads" or "detour" as required. Second, when traveling over 45mph, the unit depicts you about 1.5-2.5 second behind your current location.
If you're looking for an inexpensive but reliable GPS solution for the US and Canada, the Averatec Voya 350 will give you a no-frills experience that is both easy to use and highly accurate.
