"The engineers didn't think this model through!"
1.5 starson by windbitePros: Lots of screen space. Thinner design.
Cons: Maps can't be updated unless you install a micro-sd card & can navigate Garmin's labyrinth website; Garmin didn't consider map updating hard drive requirements with this unit! This model is much slower than my 4-year old model at locating satellites.
Summary: I'm very disappointed with this unit! This unit is a demotion from my previous Garmin devices! With smartphones evolving and getting better, I do not see Garmin surviving the automotive GPS market unless they up their game and start producing quality products again! Also, the advertisements on the screen are a BIG distraction!

What this user has said about updating maps is inaccurate. I updated just fine without a micro-SD. If you need to free up space, delete the foreign languages, as the user bobnh2 above suggests (although I did not need to do this). I also had an extremely easy time updating my maps and software just by following the very simple instructions that were included. It was as simple as navigating to the link provided and installing the updater, which then does everything for you.
