"Many great features but not all of them work properly."
3.0 starson by oneupcanuckPros: The new photo-realistic junction view makes even the most intimidating interchanges a cinch to navigate. Many layouts and options can be customized. Has an "apps" section that includes a handy trip planner. Has an exit services feature.
Cons: - Screen resolution is a bit low
- Map sometimes lags and is slow to render graphics
- speakers are not quite powerful enough for some situations
- some incorrect location info & navigation errors
- live traffic data has very limited coverageSummary: This is a solid GPS device with most features you need. I recently took a trip to Toronto where I put many of it's features through their paces. The navigation guidance features are superb. The voice nav is very accurate and there is tons of information displayed to make sure you are in the correct lane at the right time. It even tells you about road closures and is very fast at recalculating a route.
I did encounter several disappointments however. Once it told me to take a ramp onto a highway for no reason and the destination was nowhere near the highway. Another time I looked up a restaurant and the co-ordinates sent me to someone's house. I also noticed it is missing many restaurants in its database. It has live traffic updates but despite Waterloo being listed as in their coverage area, I never get any traffic data there but in the GTA and along Highway 401 there is good coverage. I just wish it would alert you of traffic congestion further in advance so there is more time to take a detour. I also found the map too slow to respond when I manually zoom out and move the map around with the touch screen. This is something I personally do often because I like to see the full route before I start to make sure the GPS has not chosen a strange path. My last gripe is that it has no voice command feature which I think is something I should get at this price point.
I am pretty happy with the purchase overall but these flaws are also significant and can't be overlooked. Hopefully Garmin will be able to address some of these shortcomings in future updates which would make this device go from very good to exceptional.

Although this is supposed to be a review of the Nuvi 2555, the Nuvi 2495 is constantly cited as the review subject in the text.
