"Guys don't need directions!"
onPros Bright screen! Automaticaly adjust to nigh viewing. Accurate navagation. The street address is displayed in realtime while your driving...cool feature if your looking for a specific unmarked street number. The speaker is loud enough to hear over moderat
Cons Programming is not completely intutive. The wife used it last week and it sent her through gravel roads in the boonies, but still got her there. The power can't be direct wired to the battery.

"Every bit as good as a factory nav system"
onPros Broad map coverage, very rich in features, easy to update software and data on PC, and the whole thing works great. I also have (in another car) an Alpine DVD nav system, which is terrific, but I don't miss it when I'm in the car with the 2620. I got m
Cons Screen seems small at first. Compared to the Alpine nav system with a 5+" screen, this seems small when viewed side by side. But when you're using it in the car, the screen is quite adequate, unless you're trying to read it from the back seat. Would be

"Great Unit Few Concerns"
onPros Owned 2610 before this and I like the ability to have the entire US on a disk instead of loading portions of the country with my computer. Once I turned it on and the voice did not work, after shutting it down and waiting a few minutes the voice came back
Cons On the 2610 You can upgrade the software by downloading patches from garmins site. No way to do this on the 2620. Also no way as of now to update the maps. Be careful in NY where I live with the constant construction this thing will send you happily up on

"best portable sat nav"
onPros very portable, good clear spoken directions, zoom in feature gives very accurate details, detour facillity good to avoid traffic jams.
Cons would be better if the speeker was in unit instead of the power lead.

"Crushing disappointment"
on by geharveyPros Great "potential"
Cons Hasn't fulfilled "potential'
Summary I have the new 2720. Satellite signal acquisition is absolutely pathetic. My car's radio antenna is built into windshield which may cause interference, but was initially told by Garmin tech support external antenna for 2720 was unnecessary. After continued reception problems, bought it anyway (another $80). Unit STILL will not connect with satellite unless I place antenna outside car on top of roof! Not what I had in mind. Maybe I have a lemon...maybe there is an acceptable solution. But right now, I have a $1000 paperweight.
