"This is the best GPS of all for ME!"

    by howcome1 on September 1, 2005

Pros: Fastes Recalculation, Very accurate and easiest to use. (JUST WONDERFUL)

Cons: NO CONS AT THIS TIME.

Summary: I have had the opportunity to checkout the following GPS products, The Initial GPS NAV/DVD, Garmin Street Pilot 2620, Magellan Roadmate 700, Lowrance Iway 500 and the Tom Tom Go 300 and 700. All of the above products are wonderful and have all their own little traits and hang-ups. As of now I have found nothing to complain about with the Garmin Street Pilot 2720. I have used this product now for 2 weeks and use it when I go to the store and the test has not failed me at all. This has the fastest Recalculation of all the above mentioned unites. The NEW text to speech is outstanding and never misses. I am going to North Carolina next week and cant wait to have this 2720 take us there. SO NICE AND SO AWSOME IS MY FINAL THOUGHT.

I have been using the Garmen 2720 for approximately 1 Month. I work as an outside representative for an insurance company going to people?s homes and businesses. Therefore when I?m in a strange town a good navigator can not only get me to where I?m going but also remove a great deal of stress As you never have to worry about where you?re your next turn is. Nor do you have to hold a Map in your hands any. Longer

I found using Garmen 2720 very easy to use go to be honest I think it?s a bit pricey current considering its competitors. Yes the touch pad is nice versus the least expensive models scroll wheel. But in the end the least expensive Garmen I4, we?ll get you there just as well for half the price. Another quirk in the 2720 is having the speaker for the unit built into the power charger unit of the car. In some cars and situations it?s difficult to place properly and is more subject to being broken. They just should have built the speaker into the unit. Also been bulky microphone wire going to your cigarette lighter is sloppy to say the least.
Yes the text to speech voice function is a big quirky at times regarding its pronunciations but is generally fairly accurate. Sometimes it does tell you the wrong exit numbers but I think this is more a function of the satellites rather than the unit itself.

Let me just say I enjoy this product and it works very well and then I?m very happy that my company paid for it. For otherwise I would have bought the less expensive Garman I4 and been just as happy. The maps and everything are nice but in the end all I wanted was a voice to tell me how to get where I was going and Garman?s do this just as well.

Some guy's post above this one, indicated that a user he was replying to was somehow connected to Garmin or was a retail store establishment, becasue they were glowing about the 2720.

Well hold up there Brother, I also like the 2720 and I don't work or have any official ties with the 2720 organization!
