"Not as Efficient as i'd Like"
on by dmf415Pros Only $199 at Fry's SF. Dropped it a few times and still works Great.. Bright LCD. didn't notice any visibility issues.
Cons IMHO, doesn't take the most efficient route to destinations. A little dangerous having a gps, almost got into an accident staring at it while driving.
Summary Saw Fry's weekend deal on this for 199 and couldn't pass up this deal. I brought this puppy home and installed the V8 software. After getting all the latest updates online I put in an old 512mb sd card i had lying around and started uploading states to the C320. I as able to fit almost half of North america, including Canada on the 512mb and filled less than half of the 512mb sd card.
I used the gps the whole weekend and found that most of the time it would give me unefficient instructions. For example, i live off of mission in san francisco and entered in a destination about 10-15 blocks down mission. Instead of taking me straight down mission it made me take the street parallel to mission then go back on mission. The point of arrival was not across the street so it should have just told me to go straight down mission. It also did something similar for other destinations i've tried using it. It did lead me in the right direction when I went to a hotel on van ness. it was kind of nice not having to look at all the addresses on building to make sure i didn't pass the hotel up.
It was a challenge choosing where to mount this since you can't mount it on the windshield in CA. I didn't want to stick that black mounting disc on my 2007 suv. There are a few companies that make mount devices, but at $30+ that would overseed the bargain I just got at 199.99.
Anyhow, if you have an old SD card lying around this is a great bargain. If not you may want to consider the C330.Updated
After owning this thing for 7 full days I finally discovered that when you hit "where to?" and click the down arrow on the bottom right hand corner of the screen you have choices for intersections, attractions, shopping, parking, entertainment, recreation, community, cities transit, auto services, hospitals and more! Keep in mind that im an IT person and didn't even realize this. doh!!! -
"The Garmin c320 has Great Reviews, BUT not simple to install"
on by pseudosea7Pros Don't know yet
Cons The unlocking process is quite involved......
Summary I just got my Unit and it's been 2 days and I cannot Unlock the unit. Hopefully it will not take me more than 1 week to do so. Otherwise I'll return it. WARNING: before you rip everything open and get TOO excited about your Garmin, make sure you have an Unlock Certificate.
Here's my story. I got the unit opened everything up and realized it does not work without a computer to upload to the unit. Well OK, bought it to work and realized that my work computer will not let me install the software. Ok bought it back home and installed the software, but need the internet to register the unit. OK bought my computer to the coffee shop to register the unit, but the box it came in did not have the Unlock Certificate. Well OK, I emailed Garmin and hopefully they'll get back to me soon, otherwise I'm getting a Sony. Oh you also need to download the newest map... the CD it comes with is useless. Also if you play around with the unit, your Unlock code may be stored inside your unit, but the C320 does not have the unlock code inside it.
For a product that prides itself on being simple to use, it's certainly not simple to get started. -
"It's a good buy at such a low price"
on by vtbalajiPros Clear maps, voice instructions and a truck load of points of interest
Cons Suction cup doesn't stick to the wind shield for a long time.
Summary Bought this Streetpilot 320 a couple of days back....drove from DC to New York. Felt really happy that I bought something very useful. Voice instructions and 3D maps were very clear. Touch screen works perfect for entering addresses but the layout of keys is not the same as computer keyboard. It will take some time to get used to. Signal reception was pretty decent throughout my drive.
The 128 MB SD card that comes with the package is insufficient. I tried to load all the north eastern states but I was unsuccessful. I had to delete a couple of states. It would not be a problem if you have a SD card of bigger capacity. The only imperfect thing is the suction cup which comes off the wind shield after an hour or two. The driver may get distracted every time the GPS unit falls down. I tried to keep the GPS unit next to the gear shift rod but it wouldn't pick up satellite signal unless it is kept near the wind shield. The only solution for this problem is to stick the movable base of the GPS permanently to the dash board using glue. -
"Great unit; but did not work in Manhattan, NYC"
on by cpark2000Pros great all around unit for the price
Cons receiver does not work around skyscrapers
Summary This unit has been very good to me in LA and around town. When I took it to Manhattan, NYC and walked around trying to use the 320, it kept saying "searching for satellite" and never connected via GPS. That was disappointing. However, I recommend this unit as a starter GPS for simple navigation needs.

"great product"
on by chickinpaPros no fluff or unwanted stuff inside, just what one needs in USA.
Cons bit pricey on QVC
Summary This unit has been a blessing. Easy to use and understand, bit pricey, but glad I have it.
