"The i3 lacks a simple feature"
Pros: scroll wheel is easy to use / has "most recent via point" lookup /
Cons: cannot import/export via points (waypoints) to PC
Summary: Nice unit for the beginner, in which what this is unit geared towards. I have no complaints other than a couple of minor software features that, maybe with any luck, Garmin will implement these into future unit software updates. 1) You cannot import or export the via points (waypoints) to the pc for saving or editing. the included software only installs map sets. fortunately I have a MapSource CD from my still current Emap unit and this allows importing and exporting to my i3. It's nice to be able to export your waypoints to the pc and view all your waypoints on the software map and either rename them or delete as needed. 2)Since there is no "delete all waypoints" option on the unit itself, the only way to delete waypoints is one at a time. very time consuming if you have a lot like me (468). I travel often and my Emap unit had all the waypoints currently in it. I was able to import all my waypoints to my new i3 but I accidentally imported waypoints from a year ago and had to either 1: delete them all a re-import the correct ones or 2:compare the saved waypoints from a year ago to the recently saved waypoints from a week ago them add the difference to my i3 (I chose to compare/add), try to delete almost 500 waypoints from this unit with the scroll wheel, it'll take many hours. I emailed support and informed them of my disappointment and pleaded for them to add a "delete all" option for future unit software updates. This option shouldn't only be available on the more advanced units but we'll see. I like the unit very much other than being able to not scroll the map screen and the waypoint issues. (I still like calling them waypoints instead of via points....).

I fail to understand why people buy an economy model and then expect all the bells and whistles that come with more expenseive products.
I have found the Garmin StreetPilot i series to be an excellent product for the price. -
I have just bought a Garmin i3, I am a newcomer to sat nav. The unit is great & meets all my needs - except. It would seem that my only option in choice of routes is fastest or shortest. When using Route Finder on my PC in earlier times, I could ensure that my route was determined by waypoints, not always the fastest, or shortest, but the route I wanted to travel. I'm sorry if i've missed something, but if not, this is dissapointing. It would be nice to be able to set longer routes and waypoints on your pc (or the i3) & download
