Pros: Very fast response time connecting to the satellites. Very quick when rerouting to a destination. Great deal with lifetime maps and lifetime traffic. Does a great job with lane assist. The chime is very helpful when approaching your turn.

Cons: Would have been nice if the unit displayed speed limit and current speed at all times. Another fun feature is downloading other vehicles or voices, not a necessity though. Hard to see unit in direct sunlight, need to darken.

Summary: This is a wonderful unit. I have owned at least 7 Garmin units over the past 13 years. They are really pushing out the units but quality control is at a worst. I recently returned 3 units due to powering on and off issues. Customer service for Garmin blamed the retail store yet hundreds of people had complained online experiencing the same problems. Their customer service agent finally admitted they had recalled many units but that didn't help me. Their customer service left a lot to be desired so I thought I would try Magellan. I purchased the Roadmate 3045-LM at Best Buy for $169.00. What a bargain for a unit with traffic and Map updates free for life. This is a current sale, $50 off the original price. The unit lacks the customization that the Garmin offered, different voices and vehicles. The Garmin unit also has a more polished looking map. You definitely pay for these features with Garmin. I wanted a nice unit that wouldn't freeze up or turn on and off at the blink of an eye. The Magellan unit has worked wonderful so far. The unit powers on quickly and connects to the satellite much quicker than any Garmin I had owned. The routing and rerouting is also twice a as quick. Another plus is the lane assist. The Magellan is much better when in route. The Garmin would hardly ever detail the exits, unless in a large city. The Magellan does this no matter where I am and for every exit. One thing I miss is the current speed driven and the speed limit for the road displayed at all times. Perhaps this will be added someday. Overall if you are looking for a reasonably priced unit with good POI, stability, traffic, map updates, etc....this unit is for you.
