  • "IT flashes food chain ads on screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
    on by robert06890

Pros screen Size, rich features ease of use

Cons 1. ADS - they have to be kidding!
    2. Long time to initialize locate itself (longer than other Magellans I've owned
    3. Slow acting chip- it takes a long time for the unit to announce upcoming distances (again slower than previous Magellans)

Summary I'm torn - the unit is full featured, and I bet the one I bought had a bad chip (causing its slow response) BUT THE CONSTANT PROMOTION ADS ON THE SCREEN. I don't want to be told that Burger King is having a sale on its 1/4 ponder...what were the marketing guys thinking - and who were they aiming this at. Its not going in to our Jag or BMW. Hope Garmin or Tom Tom haven't followed suit.

    Updated on Jul 26, 2010

I called Magellan customer service (overseas call center) and was told that the ads cannot be disabled on this or any of Magallan's 2010 "free" traffic alert models as that is subsidizing the cost of the traffic alert service... The ads may not bother you as much as they do me. It feels like an invasion of my space/privacy when the screen tells me there is a sale at the retail outlet right down the road. If you find a way to disable this contact me at rbbox-cl8@yahoo.com

Pros Quick recalculation, nice looking unit, and good screen. Does basic GPS functions ok.

    Cons -Traffic feature doesn't work/unreliable
    -Banner ads on screen
-Erases or swaps out saved Home address
    -Restarts randomley
-Trip feature erases all your address's from time to time

Summary I hoped Magellan had put out a quality product here, but unfortunately it has several software glitches causing frustrations at times. The traffic feature doesn't work, the banner ads are unbelievably annoying, and the system erasing your home address and shutting down periodically is very annoying. I would not buy this product or a Magellan product again.

  • "Magellan 3065 is just ok."
    on by trejo495

    Pros Nie size, loud volume

Cons it's not completaly update. when it turn on, it takes time to search for the signal. I wrote an address and it took me to a different location. The female voice is not too clear sometimes.

Summary you get for what you paid for.

  • "Poor quality control, buyer use caution"
    on by bobd1021

Pros Bells and whistles are good. I like the idea of bluetooth capability, the multi-destination routing w/route optimization, and traffic alerts.

Cons The bluetooth sound quality was poor, stopped working.
    Traffic alerts are inaccurate.

Summary 1st GPS: Froze, had to let the battery run out before I could re-set the GPS.
2nd GPS: Data/map loads slowly which creates a problem when driving since I missed a turn here and there. I initially had great difficulty pairing a Samsung and a LG phone. The BT did work for a while, then it stopped working altogether. The traffic alerts dont account for the traffic on the roads that I consider to be important. . The GPS mount is difficult, although it does become easier to use after a couple of weeks.

  • "Great device for the price of admission."

Pros quick routing, traffic wake up, Bluetooth (seamless pairing and even downloaded my contacts), reminds me of the hertz never lost, spoke street names, traffic alerts without subscription), trip report feature .

Cons No real cons, could use some "bells and whistles" (that have nothing to do with getting where you need to go) i.e. picture or documentation storage, and more silly screen customizations.

Summary This is a solid product a true "Roadmate".
