"Nextar X3-02 - "Don't expect much from this unit."" on by michaelramage
Pros: For basic point to point directions, it does okay. I have not had the volume issues some have had.
Cons: Map software was issued in mid-2007 (it is October, 2008 as I write this) and no update has been announced--free or at a cost. Points of interest are hopelessly out of date, so that function is useless.
Summary: If you can buy this cheap (I got mine for $130 at Tigerdirect.com), don't buy it. Once you start using a GPS (this is my first) you will want timely "points of interest" function to find restaurants, businesses, etc.
Unit also annoyingly defaults to a midwestern USA location and has to be reset frequently. Nextar appears focused on selling units, not supporting the customer's needs after the sale.
