Manufacturer description

You've been holding out for something that links all of your devices together into one seamless experience. You love the idea of a system that can be operated by the sound of your voice. It's time to stop wishing for the next great thing because it's here. This is your life made easier. Now you don't have to worry about discs being misplaced, damaged, lost, or stolen. The entire TeleAtlas Database that was previously on the two-DVD set has been taken, compressed down, and stored internally on flash memory. The AVIC-F700BT offers a new generation of voice recognition capability for controlling iPod playback and making calls hands-free via connected Bluetooth-enabled cell phones. The technology accepts and recognizes conversational phrases and language, filters out superfluous sounds and phrases, and if the user doesn't give enough information in the command, the unit will ask additional questions to clarify the request. The AVIC-F700BT comes with built-in Bluetooth. Now you never need to miss a call, even if your tunes are cranked up or your phone is buried in your bag. It is easy to play various digital and audio formats like: CD-R/RW discs, Portable Media Players like iPod, USB memory devices, and SD Cards. You can play a wide range of files types as well, such as MP3, WMA, iTunes AAC, and MPEG-4 video files. The AVIC-F700BT allows you to change the illumination color to match your car. Select from among 32,768 different colors to match car interior and dashboard lighting. The new WVGA display is much higher quality at 800 x 480 pixels. Images become sharper and more defined, just like maps and menus on these units. The display's enhanced GUI (Graphic User Interface) has also advanced, making system control and management effortless. You can directly control your music and videos from your iPod. Fast and easy control through USB, the AVIC-F700BT also features iPod Album Art display, Alphabetical Speed Search, and much more.

Terrible Product

Pros: There is not a single positive to this unit

Cons: Everything

Review: So I installed my 700BT about a 2 months ago and let me tell you that this is the last Pioneer Navigation I will EVER buy.
Where to start with the issues..............there are so many lol.

After I installed the unit I did the 2.0 update and went out to test how the GPS worked so I punched in a buddys address and off I went. About a half mile down the road it resets, I'm thinking this isnt normal so I continue on my way. After it FINALLY boots back up it keeps saying Satellite lost..........how is that possible when there is not a cloud in the sky, no trees or houses around me.....its an open area AND the antenna is on the roof. I get home and recheck all my connections and very thing is fine, I put it all back together and give it another shot.............wouldnt you know it the thing worked lol.

On to about a week later, the same thing starts happening this time it just kept rebooting. I figure the antenna might be bad so I ordered a new one, but no go...issue even with the new antenna. I go on here and learn that this is a common issue and I deleted a few files as stated in a few threads..............BAM it worked, for about 2 days before it started AGAIN! Now it will navigate for all of a few minutes before it stops responding.

On to issue #2..........Thumbdrives and hard drives are like Kryptonite. I plug in a thumbdrive and it works until I shutoff the car and restart it. When I shut the car off and turn it back on it does not recognize the drives, I have to unplug and replug it in for it to be recognized. I have tried all my thumbdrives which are Sony, Kingston, and Sandisk all different sizes, all of em do it.

Issue #3, I turn the car on let the system boot and guess what..................NO SOUND lol, not even the touch tone sounds, no music from CD's or from drives, but wait it gets better.... the AM/FM radio work fine lol. I have to shut the car off and restart it for the unit to fully work.

Here is a funny side note, my neighbor bought the 900 and it is doing the same thing with thumb drives, not having sound, but now it wont even stay on for more than 10 minutes when the GPS is on all it does is reboot.

I called Pioneer and they tell me to send the unit in for repair, well wouldnt you know it they could not duplicate the problems, figures . They reset it to factory and sent it back to me.............do I even have to say what happened when I got it back? The same issues, I called Pioneer yet AGAIN and I was not nice this time because I spent good money on this unit and it does not work even AFTER sending it out to them. The Customer service rep told me it was an installation issue.......ummmm NO, I know for a fact that it is not an installation issue, the symptoms do not fit their diagnosis. I have been installing car audio for over 10 years and I had 3 other installed check it and all is good and I'm also MECP certified and do this for a living. The unit is not hacked in anyway not hardware or software. So they wanted me to send it out for repair again, which I refused to do, at this point if I cant get this fixed on my own I will just chuck it. I heard rumbling about how bad Pioneer units are, but this is my first one for personal use, I have installed many of them and honestly alot of them came back with similar issues but I figured it was a bad batch or something so I went against my better judgment and picked one up...............big mistake, I should have stayed with the Kenwood. Never in my life did I think Pioneer would release such a inferior product.

I'm hoping someone on here can shine some light on how to fix these issues, because Pioneer has been ZERO help.

2.0 Update Fixes Most Issues

Pros: Good nav system.
Sound is very good.
Hands-free Bluetooth works really well with iPhone.
Voice Command is really nice.

Cons: Still a little slow.
Not the most intuitive interface out there.
Installation is better left to professionals.

Review: Probably the best part of this system is the ability navigate all your A/V media via voice command as well as switching the source from iPod/iPhone to CD to SD card to FM, AM and if you have separate tuners hooked up, Sirius, XM and HD Radio. The Bluetooth integration with my iPhone is very slick and was actually surprised it worked as well as it does. The GPS Nav system is much nicer than the TomTom ONE 130 that this replaced, with Text-to-Speech and a nice automatic zoom feature as you get close to a turn and on-screen lane indicators that let you know which lane you need to be in on the Interstates to catch your exit.

The system is still a little slow on bootup, but much improved over version 1.0 of the firmware. The screen interface can be a little daunting and you really need to reference the 192 page Operation Manual a lot until you get used to using it. Hopefully, a future update will make things a tad more intuitive.

Installation was a real pain. There are several connections with this unit that are not made with a regular stereo upgrade. With prep-work and everything, it probably took me 8 hours to install this unit and would have probably taken a professional crew 3 or 4 hours if they do it right. So, keep that in mind if you have never done a radio install before. I have posted details of the istallation at: http://ourserendip.com/WPBlog/?p=714

Overall, after I have gotten used to all the quirks and foibles, this is a solid system and I can recommend it.

The start up time seems to be about 40secs

Review: Overall, I love this unit because all its features make up for the slow loading time. I get compliments all the time. A huge upgrade from my last unit. I Love It! I would recommend this until but test it out for a long time in the store before you buy it.

S-L-O-W, locks up, poor design and interface

Pros: Nothing positive to say, even though it looked appealing with it's features.

Cons: Very slow on both startup & reading MP3?s--inserted a 2GB card & after 20 min, it was still trying to read the contents. Manual only on-line & very convoluted. A firmware upgrade caused a complete lockup. Touch screen often requires multiple p

Review: Poor design and interface. Very buggy. Gave up and returned the unit.
A common problem with most GPS units is that they are difficult to read the screen in strong sunlight and without any window tinting.
