"Better than the AVIC S1, but still needs improvement"
Pros: Easily readable screen w/ multiple viewing options, quick route recalculation, and bluetooth phone connectivity
Cons: Software issues can be frustrating, also takes quite awhile sometimes to get an initial signal
Summary: I owned an AVIC-S1 for almost a year (thank goodness it was still in warranty) when the speaker went out. I had other problems before this occurred, which I overlooked, such as 1) frequent freezing causing me to have to reboot the device, 2)frequent loss of bluetooth connection forcing me to constantly re-pair the the devices, 3) and 'out of the way' route calculations. Needless to say, I went through repair after repair and finally Pioneer conceeded to send me a new AVIC-S2. So far I have experienced none of the above problems with the AVIC-S2, however, it's failure to get a GPS signal at times has caused me to have to hard reboot. It can be frustrating. If this persists, I may sell or send back this device. It could just be my area, but I didn't experience this problem with the AVIC-S1.
