"NO UPDATES AVAILABLE! And no updates are planned."
Pros: I have the virtualy identical NVM-4070, it is feature packed. I bought this for my wife and it was a real asset when we moved to a different state. I just pluged in the doctor's office, Walmart, Target, and our new home location.
Cons: NO UPDATES. Even on the 4370 maps are from 2007 and I am running into road changes that are not in the Sanyo 4070. I tried an update but the Sanyo 4070 website "http://www.easystreetnav.com/" has no links for any updates or even support of any kind.
Summary: After looking hard in the manual that refers to an Update CD and the Sanyo http://www.easystreetnav.com/ website to no avail I called the number on the front of the manual. After being told about six times (NO JOKE) in a recording to check one of the websites I just spent considerable time looking at I got a representative that just bluntly told me that there is no Update CD and that Sanyo does not plan on ever releasing one.
WHAT?????????????? In December 2007 I paid hundreds of dollars for this thing and now I find out they never planed to support it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this sounds just crazy that a company can just so blatantly stick it to their customers but it is true. See for yourself,
call Sanyo Customer Service at (800) 421-5013. Remember MD# NVM-4070, the same is true for NVM-4050. Beware, they'll tell you that you can get their new model NVM-4370 that can be updated. But guess what. It has the same 2007 maps as the NVM-4070 and "THERE IS NO PLAN FOR AN UPDATE".
Until SANYO pulls its' head out of their fourth point of contact for the referenced customer support issue the brand SANYO must be avoided period. If they can do this for a (at the time $400+ NAV Unit) how are they gong to treat you concerning your $200 phone.
