"Forget about it - looks great, works poorly"
Pros: Looks great - nice screen. Nice "look"
Cons: Price, not functional, cannot be upgraded despite what SONY says. Takes 5 minutes to find a GPS signal. Battery dies after an hour max. UBS charge plug on bottom means you can't use in car unless mounted (and thieve target),
Summary: Overly pricey despite price mark-downs (this thing was at 299 originally!). Functionally, it can take 5 minutes to get a GPS signal, even in an open area by which time you are 5 miles down the road in the wrong direction. Apparently you can download firmware to fix this problem but the software isnt recognized (i.e. cannot be found anywhere on the internet). Have downloaded it several times but without avail. All in all this is the most diaappointing product I have purchased in a long time from any manufacturer, despite the fact that I have Sony TV and other products and am generally pleased with them. This GPS was obviously created to fill a "product gap" somebody in HQ decided they had and, while looking good, is vastly inferior to other products at less than half price. Battery dies quickly and does not hold its charge if not in use. Impossible to upgrade to new firmware despite several attempts. Perhaps somebody at SONY should actually try their product. Sony should focus on what they do best- and this aint it!
Definitely the only purchase I have made in the last several years that I thoroughly regret!
