  • "Best TomTom to date."
    on by TomS1222

Pros Best screen resolution of any TomTom.On Par or even better than Garmin 3700 units Quick and precise Routing. Strong GPS signal. Excellent mounting system.Loud and crisp Speaker.
Fast Traffic system better than the Garmin Traffic with pop up ads.

Cons Voice commands limited and somewhat confusing.
No Back button to get to the previous screen like Garmin has.
No SD or Micro SD slot

Summary Overall the Pro's outweigh the Con's and TomTom has produced a High Quality product. The 4GB internal storage is plenty of space for US, Canada, Mexico and even Europe maps if you are so inclined. There really is no need for additional storage. This is after all a Navigation device and not an I-Pod. If you want to upload MP3's than do it on an MP3 player. For Maps and updates this unit has plenty of space. Up to Par with the Garmin 3790 unit which I also considered but personally I prefer the TomTom interface to Garmins. Besides the TomTom 2505tm is about $180.00 cheaper than the 3790lmt.

  • "Nothing but problems. Worst GPS I ever owned."
    on by jc47727

Pros NONE, cant say one good thing about the unit or the company.

Cons Purchased my GPS in Jan of 2011. Had the unit replaced twice in one year. After the one year warranty ran out and my third unit quit working right, they said there was nothing they could do about it.

Summary I will never buy anything from TOMTOM again. I would not recommend that anyone else does either, unless you have money to waist. Customer sevrice is super slow. They will not stand behind their products more than one year, no mater how many you problems you have from the beginning.

  • "I like it but would like to see more content added."
    on by lendlv

Pros Big screen, good graphics, fairly accurate maps. Updates using the Internet based function works well, but only when TomTom decides to send updates, which is very infrequent. Used it in Florida and it worked well there.

Cons Very poor ability to add any additional content. Very infrequently updated by TomTom. Doesn't work with the computer based app that is used to update most other TomTom devices. Battery doesn't last long when not plugged in. Fairly heavy.

  • "Avoid this unit unless you don't want to do any updates"
    on by kyle_mun

    Pros Big and bright screen.
Interface is nice, very easy to navigate thru the menu

Cons Charging plug is not standard usb, you will need to buy from Tomtom if you need to replace the one that came if the unit.
Most of the features are not implemented yet.
Update from tomtom websites is not working.

Summary Got this unit for one month, was working great until I decided to do a update. Followed the instructions and with 11% to the finish, it crash. Try many time to update, having the same problem. Unit boot up but say "no maps found". Returned to the store and exchanged to a Garmin.
Search the internet for "Update Tomtom Go problems" and you will see that there's a huge problem with there software. Tomtom decided to make this unit available before the Online Update application is ready.

  • "Folks dissing the Tomtom GO 2505 TM?? Read my Summary!!"
    on by LaZeR30

Pros Sleek, slim, 100s of (navigation) features, accurate directions, the NEW easy mount is the best in the industry, big GLASS screen, highly configurable with POIs and other stuff, easy to use all features after learning curve, don't think Garmin offers Pinc

Cons Bit of a steep learning curve, still haven't learned how to enter and submit Map Corrections. Sometimes wants to take you on a different route then the one you KNOW is the best, but the unit is SELF LEARNING so corrects itself the next time you want to g

Summary Folks - READ the extensive CNET review and watch the video. Download the FULL manual from the web. People simply diss good products before researching, reviewing, and fully LEARNING how to use them. You save around $150 from similar, but not as nice features available from Garmin. Tomtom is the GPS wave of the future.

my Pros should have ended with "don't think Garmin offers a Pinch and Zoom screen" which is SEPARATE from the LIVE Navigation screen...
