"No volume issue!"
Pros: Fast routing, convenient windshield mount, ease of use
Cons: short battery life
Summary: I really cannot understand the Cnet review that seriously downgrades the rating of this unit due to a supposed volume issue. I have no problem hearing the verbal instructions even at 40% volume level.
I purchased the unit based on CR review and I couldn't agree more with their assessment of the model - a higly recommended model.
It is inexpensive and does what I want it to do - navigate effectively and it is very user friendly. Your review should factor in price in your rankings. Comparing this model on an equal footing with a $700 or $800 models is of questionable value.

The 130S has plenty of volume. Many people do not activate on the speed volume compensation. This increases the volume over 5 times. There is no quality problem. Unfortunately TomTom does not engage this feature when the unit is shipped and it is hard to locate on the menus.

I have a 130s and also have major volume issues. If I put the volume at 50% I can't even hear it with the engine running. Due to the varying range of users reports on this issue I have to suspect Tomtom has a quality problem. Some units obviously have this problem while others do not. I previously had a Tomtom One third edition and it was at least 2-3 times louder than the 130s I have now.
