Cons: Life Time Maps-every time I update it locks up & I spend 30 minutes on phone w/ cust serv & then 2hr download.
Traffic-its based on other TomTom GPS unit info & rarely useful.
Now after my 3rd Update it locks up when I hit NAV command !!!Summary: I had a Garmin Nuvi model & gave that to my wife - now I'm going to buy another Garmin. Not only have I had the above problems with updating the maps, the software/interface with the map is no where near as user friendly as the the Garmin unit. This is coming from someone that is a commercial pilot & flight instructor. So I'm pretty familiar with all type of navigation devices.

After downloading a map update from TomTom, all my onscreen select keys were offset to the left about 3/8 of an inch. Called TOMTOM at a hard-to-find number (another story), for assistance in correcting the problem. After sixty to ninety minutes of erasing stuff off my XL350TM and reinstalling data off their site, nothing worked.
I asked for an address to mail it in. Said they don't have a repair facility and only replace defective units --- if they are still under warranty. Mine is six months out of warranty, so no luck.
It was their fault that caused the problem. Finally the guy said they would mail me a 20% off coupon for a NEW purchase! Whoopie.
I don't recommend TOMTOM under any circumstance and will never purchase another TOMTOM product again. I will stay with Lowrance or Garmin which I have in my boat, truck and airplane. Never had a failure in those units and if I did, Garmin and Lowrance would back them.
