Quick Take: Bringing your
iPod Nano into the pool doesn't seem like a smart idea at first, but throw your player into an OtterBox and pool time is no longer a silent activity. We tested out the OtterBox for the
iPod Nano ($39.95), but the company makes the same cases for almost all members of the iPod family, including the iPod Shuffle. Although the case adds substantial bulk to your player, you'll be thankful all that plastic forms a protective barrier against rain, sleet, snow, and other natural elements that would otherwise ruin your player. Best of all, the OtterBox features complete playback capabilities, with access to all the controls. We love that the subtle membrane covering the scroll dial still allows users to easily navigate their players while in the box. Active users will also be happy to see two carrying options: a lanyard to be worn around the neck and a heavy-duty clip on the rear of the unit. After testing the player in rain and in the shower, our iPod Nano came out unscathed--not even a drop of moisture could be found. This product is capable of being submerged in up to three feet of water, and we'd love to test it with a pair of waterproof headphones; the solution to wet gear would be complete.
