"Burn errors after little use"1.0 starson
Summary: I confess, my LiteON is a 121032, a couple of years old but I'm having the same trouble as is being reported on the new model. After burning a half dozen audio cds and maybe the same amount of data CDs it is no longer able to close a data CD correctly, reporting a seek error. This usually leaves the disc closed permanently even when you asked for it to close the session only. On other occasions it just 'coasters' the disk. Telephone support is unavailable as far as I can tell, and the website is next to no help. I tried downloading a firmware update and it failed to load. The drive was low-priced compared to others available at the time, but it is NO VALUE when you have to replace it after a year or two. Anyone who actually burns discs frequently would surely have trouble with this drive sooner than I did. LiteON appears to prove the old saying that you get what you pay for. My recommendation to anyone shopping for a CDRW is to invest $30 more and get a good drive from a well known company that will support their hardware. My LiteON cost me around $100 when I bought it, by the time I'm done it'll have cost me closer to $225 with the replacement drive (plus a handful of ruined CDs). It's not worth it.
