Cons (1) As an upgrade, the pricing is acceptable. It is too expensive at regular price.

Summary So, in summary, an somewhat expensive but great product, with good technical support. There are not many programs that have as much functionality and versatility.

I have upgraded several times and I have been using Nero software for years. Previously purchased versions were Nero 5, 6, 10 and 11. I am currently on Nero 12 Platinum HD.

The ability to watch, rip and record in BluRay format is awesome. The Nero Video utility (formerly Nero Vision) does a nice job, and so does Nero Recode. Nero burning ROM is the defacto standard for burning optical media.

They also offer good email and chat technical support. I have needed to obtain technical support a few times and the experience was satisfactory each time.

I frequently upgrade hardware and do Windows reinstalls often. The required activation for some of the Nero apps is a pain in the back side, as I need to contact technical support to correct it. They have always responded in a timely manner, but it is inconvenient to need to do that.

I also had issues with my installations of Nero 11 Platinum HD and Nero 12 Platinum HD. In both instances Nero Video would not launch with a side-by-side configuration error. I received a quick response and solution from Nero Support.

If you have side-by-side errors trying to launch Nero Video (aka Nero Vision), this can be remedied by updating Microsoft XML Core Services. You will want to grab "MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2" and the security update. If you are using Windows 8, you will also want to install MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 3 (Microsoft XML Core Services).

Pros Very easy to use....even I, (70 yrs. young), can manage to turn out watchable movies from analogue tapes, that are complemented by all who see them.(related to me or not).

Cons The only cons I have encountered really, were not with the program, but more to do with my shortcommings in my computer skills. Or lack of same!

Summary For the most part,. I find it a very useful tool in my hobby of vedeography. When I finish a project & view it for the first time, I am more than pleased with the end result, and very seldom now will I have to re-do part of my project, as everything I use in editing is so exact. From cuts to joins to fades etc. all come out seamless. A REAL PROFESSIONAL - LOOKING EDIT.
