I'm not sure where the negatives are coming from but for us this product works great. (Would have given five stars if the antenna cord was longer.) The product comes with several different mounting devices for car or home. Ours went into a partial basement with the antenna on a window that is about 18 inches above ground. While the signal bars on the mobile phone only went from two to three, the reception improved greatly.
