It's the best headset available for business travelers

Pros: I've stood on the sidewalk in NY on a conference call and nobody the sirens going by.

Cons: It's clunky and hard to fit.

Review: I've been using the boom now for 2 years and I love it. I've been told over and over that it sounds better than the phone. It's easly the best headset for business calls. I can use this and no one will know I'm on a cell phone. The down side it the keeping tight to your ear. I've found that to be a little difficult. They've just replaced the rubber mic to a more sturdy metal version and I should have that this week. I also purchased what they call a falcon. It's essentially the boom on a wrap around head band. I get them to extend the mike and inch (I'm a big guy) and it's hands down the best wired mike in the industry. The bottom line if you clients complaining that can't hear you and repeat what you said by a boom.

It's the noise cancellation technology - best available IMO

Pros: Simple but most effective to date noise cancellation technology; No extra batteries required; loud volume with control dial

Cons: Like all booms - bulky

Review: After I lost my version 1.0 of TheBoom(as depicted in Cnet's photo here), I've tried Jawbone, NxZen, which also claimed noise cancellation.

Jawbone and NxXen use a microprocessor and special algorithms to cancel the noise, however, I found their sound quality unacceptable. Callers found their voice clipping especially irritating, and some asked me to remove the headset.

So I pined for TheBoom. And now they have ver. 4.0. It is sturdier - no more silly magnet to hold it together - and now there's a volume control. My calls are louder and have more clarity than just my phone alone. To me it's a must have for anybody doing considerable time on the phone in all kinds of environments. I expect TheBoom to be a long term keeper as the technology is simple but effective. There is no microprocessor involved. They have a patent on their microphone, which is based on physical shape.

Yes, they were late with this latest 4.0 version. But it was totally worth the wait.

They did put a Trader Joe chocolate bar in my shipment. =) However, even without the apparent make up gesture, this is the best damn noise cancellation headset with microphones as far as I can tell.

TheBoom is a winner, absolutely. They get a 9 because there is no substitute and I haven't found anybody perfect.

Useless product, from a shady company

Pros: They didnt charge my credit card 'til it was shipped

Cons: They charged my credit card for this

Review: I ordered directly from the manufacturer (UmeVoice), I was given a shipping date about 10 days from the order date. Fifteen days came around, I had no TheBoom, and no word from the company. I contacted them and was given a new shipping date, that date came around, still nothing. I contacted them again, new date, on that date, still nothing. It took 2 months to receive it.

After all the hype surrounding TheBoom, I found out on my own, that the only thing separating this $125 dollar unit from a standard $50 headset is the great (and presumably expensive) marketing for this product.
