Pros Low profile, seems pretty resilient/durable.
Cons Price, these average about $20 a pop, and you don't get much. Application itself isn't hard, keeping the back free of dust and debris after opening and before application is. It takes 12-24 hours to set, during which the phone must be powered off.
Summary I have the LG Rumor Touch phone, and there are no hard or rubberized cases to protect the phone due to its slide out keyboard. At they very least I wanted something to protect the screen since it does spend time in my purse.
$20 seemed a little steep, but hey you have to protect your gizmos. For $20 I got one screen protector, A small cheap piece of fabric that they claimed was microfiber, and a sponge with cleaning solution.
Per instructions I washed my hands, wiped my phone down with the said cloth, then used the enclosed sponged to wet my fingers, and the back of the screen guard, and things just went down hill from there. There was already a speck of the back sponge on the the sticky side and some other small dust particles that had been floating around. I was able to wipe the dust off, however the lack bit of sponge would not come off. I tired using a household cleaner made for electronics, I tried using some good old fashioned elbow grease and it would not budge. This thing was ruined before I would even get it on my phone.
Pros Tough, hard to scratch.
Cons Will not stay put, corners peel back allowing dirt et. under the protector and at that point you are done !
Summary Do not buy this product.....
Pros Very durable and protective shield.
Cons Extraordinarily difficult installation. I used the assistance of a friend to install theirs and then mine, but with patience and a steady hand it was worth it.
Summary Excellent Protection for a Reasonable Price. But more expensive than other screen protectors. I have been very hard on my cell phones and end up with scratches on the screens due to putting them in pockets with keys thrown in bags, etc. This case has taken a beating and still endures with harming the screen. There are places you can tell the screen has been dug in by keys, these can be smoothed out with the tool. Patience is required and a friend to assist works the best to get the protector on properly the first time. Make sure to clean your hands with the screen cleaner before you wipe down the phone It will take any oils off of our fingers and help reduce the appearance of any fingerprints.
Pros low profile protection.
Cons installation is scary, but not really difficult.
Summary Watch the video, but remember that the person doing it there has probably installed several already. Of course it won't be as easy as it looks so expect some bumps along the way. Still, if you follow the instructions to the letter and be patient, it will come out alright. Admittedly, lining it up for the back was a bit tricky, but in the end I only had to move it three times before I finally got it. Keep it and your fingers moist.
I installed mine in less than 10 minutes and had no problems what so ever. YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL. If you find bumps, push them out. If they don't come out the first time, PUSH HARDER. Work the squeegee over a bump to gradually push it out from under the film, pushing very firmly the entire time. Don't think that just by running the squeegee over a large area that you will get the bumps out.
Even when first applied I had no streaks. I made sure that there were no bubbles when I applied it and it still remains bubble free.
I can understand why some are frustrated, but I also think that they probably just didn't have the patience to follow through with some of the steps thoroughly. Application is a very detail oriented procedure.
Product is great. Not recommended for the weak hearted, fumble fingered, or impatient.
Pros Low profile, inexpensive, easy to install, adds a tactile feel to the screen that actually enhances the usability a little, more smudge resistant than the glass.
Cons You are adding a film on top of the device and that isn't as sleek as the original. But it's miles better than a case.
Summary Talk about low profile protection. I installed the invisible shield on my new iPhone 3g and while, you notice it a little, the secure feeling of not scratching the screen in my pocket is worth it.
The videos on their website will tell you everything you need to know about installation. It went pretty smoothly for me.
The "film" actually makes it a little easier for me to type on the touch screen. I don't slide on the screen as much.
There are noticeably less smudges now from my oily finger tips on the touch screen.
All in all....I would recommend this product.
