"hello, i am plastique" on by dmoodie
Pros: good reception, good sound quality (pretty big pros)
Cons: plastic-y like a toy phone, VERY FRAGILE, terrible battery, strangely slow software
Summary: this is the cheapest-feeling cell phone i've ever owned. ever since they started putting cameras in phones, it seems like the phones themselves have suffered. i just wanted a low-cost phone with speaker. the speaker phone is actually pretty good. the voice-activated dialing is pretty bad (just like all voice dialiing). this phone works reasonably well overall and has very good reception, but it can be really frustrating. the software (except for the texting app) is decent but it's SLOW. and verizon decided reverse the select and exit buttons, in a very counter-intuitive way. i'm always hitting exit when i should be hitting select. so poorly thought (this is a verizon decision, not a motorola decision). anyway, i've had the phone for almost 2 months now. i give it a C.
the guy who's in charge of verizon reception should have a holiday or street named after him. the guy who makes decisions about verizon cell phones should be taken to an empty field and have live gerbils tossed at him. -
"Great as a phone... Aweful at everything else" on by youngman
Pros: signal strength
Cons: everything besides signal strength
Summary: Like many of you, I searched long and hard for the right Verizon cell phone for the best price. After doing much research I decided to take the advice of the Verizon store manager and go with the LG 6100. I went through 2 of them because (as many have already said) the LG's drop calls like crazy and their overall reception is terrible. Yet, I so didn't want to give up that phone. It had the best camera, menu system, screen clarity and overall functionality of any of the other phones I could find in that price range. But... it just stunk as a "phone". So, I made the switch to the V265. The difference is night and day as far as voice quality, reception, and signal strength. The V265 far surpasses the competition which is why I've stayed with it. When it comes down to it I need the phone to work as a "phone". On the downside, everything else about the V265 is atrocious. The screen is small, dark, and not too clear. The camera is even worse. The menu system... don't even let me get started on Motorola's backward menu system. Don't they have anyone working in the US at Mot that examines the competitor's products? Isn't anyone at Mot reverse engineering the LG's and the Samsung's? The Asian phones are so much more logical in their software as compared to Mot's garbage. Well... the choice is yours. Sadly, there is no LG 6100 out there with Motorola's transmitting and receiving power. So, you have to make a compromise somewhere... reception and signal strength versus features. Lastly, for those interested... here is the "secret" behind the V265's strong signal strength and reception: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6602_7-5020357-1.html?tag=txt sorry for my mis-spellings

"way better than lg 6100" on by nicole dove
Pros: no dropped calls!!! great reception and call quality. much better speaker phone than lg 6100. looks sharp
Cons: plasticy feel. when open the small screen in front says verizon wireless.the manual is not specific. (minor complaints overall)
Summary: i love this phone!!!!!
and i took along time making this descison, lol. first i tried the samsung a670 and then an lg 6100( thank god for radio shack's 30 day return policy) probablly because at first they both looked better. boy was i wrong! yes the 265's screen isn't quite as bright but big deal- change the contrast and its fine. the 265 is an exceptional phone. take some time to figure it out - you can group numbers under different "categories" and set a ringtone for that group. some pppl said you couldn't they didn't take time to figure it out. you can set your own short cuts and menu even on the front screen. the key pad light is on a sensor and only comes on in darker settings which is great for maintaining the battery.voice dialing works like a charm- no more having to dial numbers in the car, i have mine clipped to the visor. and the best thing of all? i have had 2 lgs and for the first time with my new 265 - i am not dropping ANY calls. And people say that they can hear me! and i can understand them - no more muffled conversations. plus the 265 is cheaper so i am very happy with myself. hehe. -
"Great Phone it's V276 (next/very similar model from V265)" on by alexboss1
Pros: Good reception, clearity, good speakerphone, visible external display when the light goes off
Cons: display could be larger, voice name would of been better then voice vecognition, battery life is not that long as on other Motorola phones
Summary: This is great phone with many different features. I've read many reviews on different web sites about V265, but I am giving review on V276 (same phone, I've heard that there is a little better picture quality then on V265, but I didn't check that yet, and if you compare V265 & V276, they are almost identical phones, 276 it's a newer model, and I think it has a little larger display, like tiny bit larger then V265) and a lot of people were not to happy about the camera. You MUST understand, you are buying cell phone & service to make and recieve calls, so, all other toys it's a secondary, but of caurse always a plus when all features work perfect, so if you are expecting to get a good quality digital pictures on ANY phone, my advise will be to buy a Video Camera by it self. I like some of the ring tones on this 276 and other features that this model offers.
Updated
I am just adding some info to my previous review about this V276 phone. I noticed that on this model and my other 120T model from Motorola sometimes when you charge it, there is a message - unable to charge, Motorola can fix it, they did on my 120T model. I want to mention that reception and clearity, and speakerphone are excellent on this phone, it's way more important then all other features, at least for me. -
"Better than any LG on Verizon" on by eberger98
Pros: NEVER drops calls, Some cool features
Cons: Boring! Typical Motorola, screen is hard to see in Daylight
Summary: I don't take pictures with it, play games, doownload ring-tones - just use it as a phone.
For that purpose it's excellent. Had two LG VX6100's - terrible, buddies had the 4400 nd 4500 - both terrible as far as maintaining calls in analog or anything less than perfect conditions.
Don't like the screen at all on the 265, but I just wanted a phone that held calls. I just swithced from Nextel, the LG's worked as good as my old I90 - dropping 20-30 calls in a 10 day period. Never dropped one with my 265 yet, in all the same areas the LG's would.
