"Every carrier has issues"
Pros: Not any worst than T-mobile or Verizon or Sprint
Cons: Great phone selection, service has greatly improved since the original AT& T wireless.
Summary: Cingular is naturally not the best carrier. However, I've been with Verizon, who when they decided to discontinue a cheap plan at the time to just upgrade me to the next level up without telling me until I got my monthly invoice. Verizon's stores are like a flea market. You can't save the numbers on a chip or purchase a phone on ebay without having to involve Verizon. With Cingular (GSM) I can purchase phones, swap the chip and use the phones easily. Their service has improved greatly once I migrated from the original AT&T (hopefully this won't go back now that they are AT&T yet again). However I was not happy the way they treated the previous AT&T customers. T-mobile's customer service is by far one of the worst ones I have experienced. I was with them for a good two years and left. I had so many issues with the phone and their headquarters did not feel I was important enough. Although also GSM....I can't see myself going back to T-mobile. Every carrier has issues. There is no one 'BEST' carrier...if there were then there would be no need for competition. The only one thing I don't like was their coverage up north in the New England area....closer to Canada...there was no coverage yet. Other than that, I just renewed for another two years...so they have me...but it was my choice...
My advice, if you're happy with your carrier, stick with them...don't switch. You will only compare Cingular to your previous carrier...and complain if it does not meet your standards. Be your own reviewer. I'm happy with it...but that does not mean you won't have issues. Same goes for any carrier out there. Good luck.

Simply not true. I had both Verizon and Sprint for years and never had the trouble that I had with ATT. I had better cell phone coverage in Baghdad on a system that the US Air Force bombed. ATT is simply awful.

Verizon is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than At&t. I miss it daily

My father-in-law has used Cingular for the past several years and threatened almost every month to drop it because of the lousy service. Since AT&T took over not too long ago he said the service has improved dramatically. Even as I glanced through other reviews I noticed that most of the poor reviews were from people who had had Cingular for a few years. I'm sure they have had poor experiences in the past like my father-in-law but, he is very satisfied now. I prefer Alltel's coverage and service, but a dealer was not available in the area to which we are moving. We chose AT&T because the way we use our cell phone, rollover minutes are a big benefit to us and because the rest of our family is on AT&T we can call them anytime for free. The downside is, the area in which we currently reside is one of the few deadspots in Ohio, so we can't really use the phone much for the next couple of weeks.

yah i have t agree T-mobile has real spotty reception, it drives me crazy sometimes living in New England and having 0-2 bars always.

I honestly have to agree with djtan here there is not really one best carrier but on the other hand their is one logical choice for an individual. In my opinion though AT&T is the closest to being one of the best carriers.
