"Great idea... poor execution... poor quality..."
Pros: Parental controls to limit who can be called, and who can receive calls from... MOM and DAD buttons for quick dialing... emergency (911) button
Cons: Difficult & time consuming to input contact phone numbers.... bad font, hard to read contacts... unreliable connectivity... expensive plans for the occasional user....
Summary: I got this phone for a sense of security for my daughter (and myself) when she visits her father. Had some issues from the start with calls not being connected, which customer service solved, so we gave it a second chance. Didn't need it for 2 weeks so left it turned off. Final straw was last weekend when my daughter was at her dad's house and tried to call me and the calls would not go through, making her think I was not picking up, and not there for her. When she got home I tried several times to call my phone from hers, and vice versa, And each time, though both were fully charged and had all connection bars showing, the glowphone got busy signals when calling me, and my phone got something like "phone is unavailable" and to call again later. On top of that, was charged monthly fee 4 times in 6 weeks, apparently 2 of them due to low balance ($.35 per day fee eats up $10.50 of the $15 monthly fee, leaving $4.50 for calls, which at $.10 per minute would be 45minutes... no way did we use anywhere near that, not even with the numerous failed calls due to their horrible connectivity.)
Just ordered a phone from Kajeet... much better quality phones, more affordable plans, "real" phones so easier to add contacts, and best of all, GPS tracking for an additional charge.
