"Great service and value, very progressive"
Pros: Call quality, features
Cons: A little expensive, so so customer service
Summary: I have been a "Helian" or "Helion"? for a year now and I am very satisfied. While other companies have caught on to more aggressive rate plans and services recently, I have to say that Helio was a first for many options. While I do pay a premium for unlimited services, my monthly bill did go down when I switched...yet I still still had the benefit of the Verizon and Sprint network. The most impressive thing to me about Helio is that they're receptive to what their customers want and actually add features and services based on user demand....for FREE no less! There is a great online community @ Heliocity.net and it seems that Helio decision makers must peruse that site because rather than try to block modding and personalization like other companies (verizon) Helio sees what their customers are doing to their devices and instead of blocking things or slapping customers wrists they add free features for all to enjoy (opera mini browser for example). They regularly add new features (push email the latest...my Gmail now shows up without having to look for it!) These updates are free and don't require me to buy a new device to access them. Helio does have some growing pains as far as customer service is concerned but I cant say its much worse than any other cell phone carrier I've experienced (verizon, sprint, cellular one, cingular, comcast, tracfone, net-10, etc). They did shut off my phone for non-payment recently (2 days late!) but other than that the complaints have been minimal....every now and the the internet goes down, but thats even less often than my Cox internet on any given weekend! Definitely recommend Helio!

I canceled my Helio service the other day! Helio went in the crapper after the Virgin Mobile buyout....I was receiving constant collection calls for my account which was NOT LATE! They said it was a mistake and the excuse was they're having problems with their billing dept ever since they outsourced to Jamaica! Thanks Virgin Mobile! The only English speaking rep I was able to get on the phone was their last line of defense rep who was trying to get me to stay with the service by trying to waive the ETF in my face like I was scared....I'm not broke! I can afford their "premium" service...what makes this clown think I care about the ETF? New Blackberry Curve: $99. ETF: $175. Ocean: (a year ago) $400. Same Sprint service. $65/mo for Helio. $50/mo for Sprint direct from the source (w/ corporate discount) and FREE TV, Navigation, etc...all on a far superior device! I think I came out ahead. Dont call them a phone company because they're not!
