Pros Easy to use; good coverage & call quality; 3.2mp camera w/flash; camcorder; very durable; rugged good looks; very tactile keys; speakrphone; long battery life. Plus, one can do basic emailing/texting/web surfing & use the built in navigation syste
Cons I agree that the speaker sound could be improved. Otherwise the phone is very good.
Summary I almost didn't buy this phone because of the numerous negative user comments.
But, I checked them out and was surprised to find that (1) almost all of the negative comments are about the phone's PTT feature and/or Sprint's PTT network and (2) almost all of those comments are "sour grapes" voiced by former Nextel users who are upset at being forced by their employers to use Sprint's PTT system and network (since Nextel's will soon be history). And, since I don't know anyone who has a phone with this feature I won't be using it and those comments have little if any affect on me! And, ignoring those negative comments, the Duramax phone really has very few negatives.
But, if you want your phone to be a TV, a movie theater or an audio system, buy something else. If you do a lot of texting, web surfing and/or emailing, buy something else. If you need a full featured car navigation system, buy something else. If you're wanting something to impress others, buy something else.
This phone isn't going to win a beauty contest or be everything to everyone. It's simply trying to be a good, easy-to-use and reliable cell phone with a few bells and whistles added. And it accomplishes these objectives extremely well!
Pros It's a tank. It's a phone, and functions perfectly as a phone-I've had great calls even in the middle of Wyoming and very rural areas. It has a simple menu that does not require a huge manual for instructions.
Cons It's not a smart phone. It will never break-so i wont get to shop every year for the latest cutesy phone to hit the market. It's not pretty-so I'm really embarrassed while texting with my mocha latte.
Summary Im a truck driver-coast to coast-I needed a phone-not a computer I have a laptop. I'm sick of having to accept what the market people perceive as the market, because children want to watch videos on their phones.I have no idea what the negative comments on this phone are about-IT"S A PHONE! If they wanted a smart phone they should have bought one. This little tank of a phone was exactly what i wanted. A PHONE-not a cute little pink polka dot keyboard to text the kiddies. I needed a phone that had reception and function. I am more than happy with my purchase.oh p.s. YOU CAN TRANSFER YOUR CONTACTS! I transferred from a Sanyo to a Nextel-took that back because of no roaming-then transferred again to the Duramax. Maybe the people with the negative comments here should read their manuals-or buy what they wanted? I would do a free testimonial on this phone for Sprint.

Pros Tough. Voice calls and PTT
Summary Lovin it.
Pros Battery Life
Cons Everything else
Summary After reading the initial reviews for this phone on Sprints site and conversing with several associates in store, on-line and via telephone, we decided to purchase the DuraMax for my husband. Big mistake. The phone is unreliable - he will get voice-mails for calls that never showed up. There is no email program that will allow access without going through the inadequate and substandard web browser. The text application is hit and miss. Sometimes they go through (both send and receive) other times....well who knows what happened to them! The speaker phone is full of static and lastly the third party applications it is supposed to be compatible with ..... we have yet to come across one. Do not waste time or money with this atrocity. Sprint has already pulled this phone from their line up which leaves this consumer wondering why it was ever there to begin with!
"A Bad Bad phone"on by atvsparky
Pros Battery life was good and external speaker sound quality was also good
Cons Direct connect would not work most of the time. Connects to verizion Towers, numbers stored in the phone useless.
Key gauard, on and off causes you to constantly shut it off and get disconnected again.
Summary It appears that sprint does not value their customers to sell them such a inferior phone and quality. To have only 4 phones that only will allow the use of accept direct connect does not say much for
Sprint. Customers who purchase these phones do so for the sole reason of using the direct connect feature. For it not to work is in excusable. Come on Sprint you can do better. 4/20/12
