The Kyocera Xcursion KX160 is a new addition to U.S. Cellular's lineup. Sporting a flip-phone form factor, it replaces the Kyocera Slider Remix KX5 as a high-end phone for the carrier. At 3.5 by 1.9 by 0.9 inches and 4.1 ounces, its size is comparable to other flip phones of its caliber, though the external antenna will add a bit more bulk. The color, 96-by-64-pixel external display sits just below the camera lens and supports photo caller ID.
The 128-by-160-pixel internal display supports 65,000 colors. The generous set includes a 500-contact phone book, a vibrate mode, Bluetooth, text and multimedia messaging, a speakerphone, voice dialing, BREW 2.1 for gaming, a wireless Web browser, polyphonic ring tones, and a flashlight. The VGA camera shoots images up to a 640-by-480-pixel resolution and offers such extras as a 5x zoom, a multishot feature, a self timer, color effects, and fun frames. The promised battery life is 3.5 hours talk time and 7.1 days standby time. The dual-band (CDMA 800/1900) Kyocera Xcursion KX160 is $89 with service.
