Summary: This is a beautiful well constructed phone and is far better than any I've seen or owned from Alltel. I would rate it a 9 or 10 except for the issue others have mentioned with the escalating ringer. I continually miss calls and texts and there is no way to disable this feature. Unless you have the phone in your pocket at all times (and don't listen to loud music or spend time in noisy places) it's a major problem. I called LG and was told there was NO chance they would offer any software updates or make changes in the phone in the future to address this problem.
Another annoyance is that you have to unlock the phone whenever you are inactive for 14 seconds, which gets old fast. There should be a way to disable this feature also, or at least to lengthen the time before it relocks.
As much as I do love the phone I will be returning mine and probably leave Alltel when my contract ends for a company with a better phone selection. -

Pros: Intuitive touch screen, user friendly interface

Summary: I used this phone for nearly a week and loved the phone itself. I found it very user friendly and easy to navigate between phone, contacts, messaging, tools, etc. A couple of touches was all it took to navigate almost anywhere. Sound quality and Bluetooth connectivity with my Acura were excellent. However, a couple of issues caused me to return the phone: battery life and ascending ringer. I am not a heavy phone user, but 1 day to 1 1/2 days was the most I could get out of a full battery charge. I was seriously afraid that if the phone had to search for a signal any while traveling or if I had to use the phone quite a bit one day, that I would wind up with a dead battery before getting a chance to recharge at night. The second issue, the ascending ringer, could not be changed and did not get loud enough to hear before the caller would hang up or the call would go to voice mail. This resulted in me having to check my phone periodically and return missed calls. I used my previous phone on vibrate a lot with a belt clip, but the vibrate on the Glimmer was also weak and hard to feel. So, overall, an excellent phone with need of a couple of tweeks.

Summary: Very upset that I can't find any accessories for glimmer. I have searched online and in stores with no luck on accessories. I know this is new phone but for the price accessories should be available at least from the company that makes or sells the phone on release date. As another user noted the lock screen feature does get old quick. I don't understand why a feature like this and also the ring feature are not left up to the user. I rate this phone high because of ease of use and nice phone in general. I love the touch-screen with option of slider keypad. The software and change of screens is smooth and very fast. This phone is great but could be a 9 or 9.5 with more user control.

Summary: Preface:
My last phone was the Nokia 6255i (1.3MP camera w/video) and it had a few things that I expected this phone to have. Don't get me wrong, the Glimmer is a very sleek phone, but there are a few things that you may have to adjust to with the touch screen if you've never owned one before. This is based on software version T83ATV05. I use this phone as a phone first, music player second.
Things I Like:
The Glimmer is loaded with cool features, like a 2MP camera, built-in GPS Nav, Access TV, a 4GB MicroSD memory slot and of course a music player.
2MP Camera - Relatively crisp pictures. You can change color balance settings, add effects (like b&w, sepia, etc, even take mulitshots (3 or 6 pictures one right after the other).
Customization Capabilities - You have full rights to change the wallpaper to anything you brought over on a MicroSD or have captured with your camera. You an even change the default colors of all of the underlying screens to 1 of 4 selections (black, blue, pond - to match the pond wallpaper, or metal). It would have been nice to see more options, but having more than 1 choice is a plus. You can also change the menu icons to black & white outlines from full color icons and change the system font to 1 of 4 styles (Gothic, Serif, Joy & Script).
Full Touch Screen - Quite possibly the coolest feature on the whole phone. It takes a little adjusting to get used to the fact that you don't have any type of thumb stick or 4-way toggle to navigate through the menus, only your thumbs, fingers and a stylus. Sensitivity can be adjusted for how much pressure is required to register a touch on the screen and so can the "rumble" that is associated with each touch (there are 4 levels for how much feedback you want as well).
The Verdict Is Still Out On:
The scrollbar on the right is very tiny when working with a long list, such as your contacts. The stylus will prove to be worthless unless you plan on carrying it with you everywhere. I'm not sure why LG didn't build the stylus into the phone itself like smartphone does. The Glimmer does offer a 2nd option which is to touch in the middle of the screen and drag to the top or bottom to quickly pan through the list. Doing this takes a bit of practice to get the timing down to fly through 10-20 contacts at a time, rather than 4-5. Your 3rd option is to slide the phone open and use the keypad to navigate to the beginning of a group of contacts based on the letters that you select.
Things I Don't Like:
Image Gallery Load - If you've taken pictures on the highest setting (2MP) and you visit the image gallery on your phone, you cannot do anything else (like go back or open an image) until all of the visible images load (12) which can take about 5 seconds. You can always change your gallery to a list view (icon preview is the default setting) but with the archaic naming convention of the images, you'll never be able to tell what is what.
Calendar - Mildly-featured. Stores simple events, nothing complex. I had the ability to store birthdays on my last phone so it would keep track of their age. The Glimmer just stores it as an event.
Heavy - With the large touchscreen and processing power, it's no surprise that this phone weighs a decent amount. It would have been nice to see LG lighten the load a little. -

Summary: I have owned this phone for a week now and have pretty much figured out the ins and outs of it.
GOOD
It is well built and sturdy and comes with a screen protector. It seems a lot of people don't like the locking of the phone but I actually think it is very useful and not that big of a deal to unlock it if need be. Pictures and video look great. You can set your own custom wallpaper(but not ringers). Font style and size are adjustable. It has a unit converter in the tools menu and also a world clock. You can watch streaming tv and has a GPS feature(both for a price of course). Overall, the phone is a really great toy, and even better if you can afford to pay for all the extra apps that the phone was made for.
BAD
The ringer settings give you no option for ascending or not, so regardless, your ringer will be ascending and is not loud enough to hear. I made my own ringtones on my computer and transferred them to my phone with the microSD card but they don't show up when I try to set them as ringers. I believe this is Alltel's doing since they are making so much money on their Axcess services. Does anyone else think it is crazy to buy a tiny piece of a song for $3 when a whole song on iTunes costs only 99cents??!! Other than those two(which are major for me!) it's a great phone.
