"Good phone, until it can't hold a charge" on by vzw123

Pros: Easy to use interface, inexpensive, Analog support

Cons: Stops holding a charge after a while

Summary: I happily owned this phone for 20 months with no problems. One day, the phone started gradually holding a charge for shorter and shorter periods of time. Now, it can barely turn on without dying. I've noticed that many other people have had the same problem with this phone. I became eligible to upgrade my phone last week, and my brand new LG VX8300 comes in the mail today. This phone was nice while it lasted, but good riddance. Thank god this phone is no longer available. Its just a toy now. I gave it a four because of the good experiences I have had with this phone up until now.

"Good for being a "PHONE"!!!" on by amungus

Pros: It's aG! phone, it works, and can still use ANALOG!

    Cons: no games, camera.

Summary: I could've put "battery life" in as a "con" to this phone, but it will last barely 2 days (on digital service of course) for my average. Seems like a good phone so far, and I could care less about a camera, but a couple free games would've been nice. Being in KS, it is good to have analog ability in emergency, though digital coverage is very good through most of NorthEastern region.
If you've read others reviews of poor reception, I think it's their service provider/area because so far this phone seems to work just fine where I am.
If you want a phone that is a status symbol, this is probably not it, but if you want a phone that is just a phone, this will do. I must also say, I'm NOT a fan of flip-phones (yet?) but so far this little thing seems sturdy enough to last, and I like its feel better than some Motorola's out there. This phone is probably "free" for most, and it's a decent phone for that, so I can't complain much unless it somehow acts up while travelling.

"Doesn't work as well as the 4500" on by bruce_g

Pros: Easy to use, decent functionality, analog capable

Cons: Poor battery life, small buttons, mediocre sound, reception/transmission not great

Summary: My wife and I used this phone for a week with an LG 4500, including side-by-side tests of sound and reception. We like that it is smaller than the 4500 and that it has an analog mode. Analog mode with Verizon is not very useful though, as their network is almost entirely digital. We like that it is not cluttered up with a camera, games and a lot of other crap that we don't find useful. It comes with a standard small travel charger, unlike the bulky charge stand that comes with the 4500.

Sound quality is not as good as the 4500, and it sounds a little "tinny," both receiving and tranmitting. Transmission fades a little more quickly and severely. The keypad is a little smaller, and I find it harder to use than the 4500. The speakerphone is not as clear. It has no external display. Battery life is comparable to the 4500, which isn't great. A heavy-duty battery is an available option. The menu structure is almost identical to the 4500, except that the 3200 does not have "Get It Now" capabilities.

At the end of the week, we traded in the LG 3200 for a second LG 4500.
