"Great small, light basic cell phone" on by BradinMontana
Pros: Excellent sound quality, thin profile fits in my Jeans watch-pocket, nice keypad feel.
Cons: Finger-print magnet, that's about it.
Summary: I wanted to find a phone that I could use simply as a phone - I have an iPod, I have a GPS unit, I have several cameras. I wanted a phone that would allow me to be able to call and be called. I also wanted a phone that my 84 year old Dad could use and understand. The VX 5500 seems to fit the bill. The sound quality is better than my previous two phones. IF the 5500 could have a slightly textured finish it would improve my grip, and if they could do something about they would reduce the size of the high-gloss area on the outside the fingerprint issue would evaporate. Realistically, I don't care about the fingerprints, but they are quite noticeable. For anyone looking for a basic, easy to use, great sounding phone, I recommend the VX5500.

"Good basic phone for basic users" on by susieqtn
Pros: Good call sound quality which is what I always get from LG phones. Easy to navigate menu.
Cons: Wish the phone were just a little bit wider to fit in my palm more securely.
Summary: Not all cell phone users need a smartphone that offers touch screens, music, and keyboards for texting. If you want a good quality basic camera phone--this is the phone for you.

"Disappointed with this LG" on by dana.charlton
Pros: I like that I can take photos, which I didn't have on my earlier LG; the raised keys are nice; and setting up the phone seemed easy at first. I also like the large display.
Cons: Fuzzy voice quality; hazy camera photos; difficult to change settings. Also a lot of built-in stuff that I have to ignore (e.g., photos). And, 2 out of 4 navigational keys start connecting me to the internet and I have to stop it.
Summary: I have the phone only one week, and am trying to get use to it, but would rather be thrilled with it. Am heading back to Verizon to check out the LG VX8350.

"Good phone but battery life problems" on by pimazonie
Pros: Small size and easy to use. Screen is bright and clear.
Cons: Bought two in 01/09. After only 6 weeks the battery life in one dropped to 24 hours. Verizon store in Tucson claimed this was the NORMAL standby time. Took a lot of talking to get a new battery under warranty. Published standby time is 440 hours.
Summary: I liked most of the features of this phone accept the bluetooth voice commands are not as easy to use as my previous phone. And I am concerned that there are battery quality issues which Verizon is trying to ignore. If the battery holds up, then I will rate this phone for my usage (occassional) excellent. I can carry it in a pocket easily instead of needing a belt holder.
