"Disco Lights = Major Drawback" on by Adam12

    Pros: Great Reception

    Cons: Large Size, Flashing Lights

Summary: This did everything well and I was very impressed with the reception. However, I didn't notice at the Verizon store that the flashing red, blue, green, white strobe light on the cover cannot be shut off! This light indicates an incoming call and is very annoying and bright, especially if you are using this phone for business as I am. You'd think an ambulance/police car was strapped to your side! I called LG and was told there is no way to shut this off. I can't believe LG didn't think of this. The LG rep said they are getting a ton of calls about the lights and some people have even tried to take the phone apart to cover up the lights with black electrical tape!

"Decent cell phone for Verizon" on by Lilshmar

Pros: Great ringer volume, user friendly, easy access to text messaging, great reception

Cons: Cannot get rid of the Verizon banner on the external LCD, not very customizable, rather large for a flip phone

Summary: I switched from Sprint to Verizon because Verizon gets better reception where I live and travel. Although I like the service, Verizon's phones are not as good as Sprint's. The VX 7000 in my opinion is one of Verizon's better phones (I had a VX6100 and a Samsung 890 for like a day). It has a good ringer and the disco lights are fun, but not for business professionals. It is easy to use and seems suprisingly strong (Mine has been dropped on several occasions). The downfalls of the phone include the fact that the Verizon banner is stuck on the external LCD and unless you know a saavy tech, there is no way of getting it off. The background colors of the phone are permanently red and cannot be changed at all. I think this is more with the Verizon service but you cannot block incoming text messages. The phone is large and boxy for being a flip phone, but it isn't horribly bad. Overall the phone works well and I have yet to have technical issues with it. If you like to customize your phone then this one might not be the one for you, but other than that it is great. Now if Verizon could just get Sanyo phones...

"A Mediocre Phone with a Camera Attached" on by hawk439

    Pros: Good Interface, Nice Screen

Cons: Poor Signal Strength and Voice Quality, 2.5 mm Jack

Summary: I previously had a Samsung SCH T300, which was a GREAT phone in terms of signal strength and voice quality. But after two years, it started to wear out - especially the 2.5 mm jack. So I was pumped to upgrade to this new LG phone worthy of an 8.0 rating.

My verdict: This is a crappy phone with a camera attached. Definitely not worth an 8.

I judge any cell phone by the signal strength it gets - which typically affects the reception and voice quality (any day now Verizon will figure out people use their phone to make calls). On that measure, this phone merits a poor. In buildings I often have zero bars or no service (my old phone worked fine). People also constantly say they can only hear every other word.

My last annoyance is the 2.5 mm jack which I use constantly with a headset. For some reason, the jack doesn't hold my headset very well. As it twists around, the sound drops in an out. This makes using the headset pretty pointless.

    Updated
I've had the phone for a few months now and my opinion keeps falling.

    a) The camera is incapable of taking pictures indoors. Since most of the pics I take (or want to take) are inside when I'm out with friends, the camera is useless.

    b) The signal strength is incredibly weak. My previous phone (that I bought in 2002) had better signal strength. I am constantly straining to hear people, as they are me.

    c) The battery life stinks. The bars countdown goes something like this 4...3...2.0.

My advice - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY - BUY ANOTHER PHONE. Ignore these posts from people who jump on CNet to give this crappy phone a high rating 5 seconds after they open the box.

    "Dancing Lights" on by hawtstuff

Pros: the blinking lights are really hot~!

Cons: but you can't shut them off

Summary: This is a really cool phone and im really glad i bought it. Especially the blinkin lights. I find it a very attractive aspect to the phone. However many people have been complaining on how you can't shut the lights off. But if you want a very nice camera phone with a little fun this is the phone for you!
