    "Disco Lights = Major Drawback"

    by Adam12 on May 5, 2005

    Pros: Great Reception

    Cons: Large Size, Flashing Lights

Summary: This did everything well and I was very impressed with the reception. However, I didn't notice at the Verizon store that the flashing red, blue, green, white strobe light on the cover cannot be shut off! This light indicates an incoming call and is very annoying and bright, especially if you are using this phone for business as I am. You'd think an ambulance/police car was strapped to your side! I called LG and was told there is no way to shut this off. I can't believe LG didn't think of this. The LG rep said they are getting a ton of calls about the lights and some people have even tried to take the phone apart to cover up the lights with black electrical tape!

I usually have my music turned up too loud to hear the phone, any phone, ring even with in car kit and speaker. I purchased a sepetate light to position it in my vision to see the old phone ringing. The "Disco Lights" get my attention even though the phone is installed off to the side. Saves lots of calls I needed to answer and saves excuses for not being able to be reached. Now I have not tried this at night, received a call yet, so it should be an interesting show. If nothing else, an icebreaker in sales. And sometimes that's all it takes. This is only my third day so more later but right now, I'll give it an 8. Conrad Havelock

Agreed w/Adam12's comments. Flashing lights are not only annoying, but also inappropriate for business use and, I would guess, most adults. Quite unfortunate. Instead of being a very pleased recent owner/user of the VX-7000, I'm looking for the best way to dump it. LG, at least provide a means to disable those lights!
