    "Has some Good, some Bad"

by jrvestal on May 10, 2005

Pros: Bluetooth, can text from the front of the phone, camera is easy to use, a good eyecatcher, battery life

Cons: Too small to hold to ear, inside buttons are still too small for effective typing, software makes it hard to locate certain functions, very hard to multitask while using this phone

Summary: I bought this phone because of the reviews on CNet, and I am torn between whether I like it or I don't. I upgraded from my Motorola V300 and the improvements are noticeable. Bluetooth is the main thing. Many people and friends stop me and ask to check out the phone.. Very good at eye-catching. However, I'm a big guy and this phone is not very good for big people. The closed phone is very small and awkward to hold to an ear for a long period of time. The phone does not have a browser, it is in no way, shape, or form a SmartPhone. So, if internet access what you are looking for, don't stop here. I even tried buying Reqwireless's browser, and it is not worth the effort. Also, finding where each feature is.. is a problem. To get to bluetooth, you have to go to Menu>Extras>Settings>Connections>Bluetooth Link. And all that from the inside of the phone. It's hard to do when you're driving or occupied with doing something. The battery life is pretty good on the phone. I'd estimate mine on a full charge could run with minimal talk time for 3-4 days without charging again? The inside screen could be bigger.

This phone is meant for stationary people who love text messaging and hate the T9 predictive text input. If a person is looking for a phone to impress people at first glance, this is the phone for you. However, if you are looking for a phone with serious functionality and a QWERTY keyboard, check out the Blackberry or the Treo 600-650.
