"Upgrade my a#$, VERY Disappointing!" on by bton66

Pros: I guess the fact that it has a good grip is a pro. Micro SD and Compatibility with other MOTO phone accessories always a plus

Cons: TINY interior display, horrible color options (no surprise with TMOBILE). Camera quality sucks. Exterior display is a step backwards for MOTOROLA. Where's the analog clock that is advertised??? Prone to Lazy Phone Sydrome (need to power down daily)

Summary: This phone is a joke. I had a Razr for 3 years and this was supposed to be an upgrade. Hardly, the tiny display is unacceptable in this day of LCD technology. Very dissapointing when compared to Razr's display.

The camera takes pics with a yellowish tone that couldn't be adjusted other than to choose other "effects." The TZONE browsing was rediculously slow.

The color choices are terrible. When will TMobile start making phones for adults?(other than G1 and other Smart phones). It seems like every phone released is brightly colored and geared toward a 12 year old girl.

The phone is advertised with a nifty looking analog clock on the exterior display. This does NOT exist...What a ripoff. This was a feature that caught my eye when I saw the phone online. Speaking of the exterior display, it is greyscale and cannot be used as self portrait view finder -yet another step in the wrong direction for MOTOROLA.

One morning, (after just one week of use) I lost my ability to text. After wasting an entire morning talking to tech support, they tell me to turn it off, take out SIM and Batt and restart. This must be done daily to avoid "Lazy Phone Syndrome." Funny, never had that problem with ANY other phone.

My friend is a Verizon customer and I went with her to shop for new phones at the Verizon Store. I felt like I was in Cell Phone Heaven. They have a phone selection that could easily triple the options available at TMOBILE. (unfortunately the rate plans aren't as cheap). Not only were there a lot of choices, but there were also phones that looked like they were made for a 30 year old man (rather than a 6th grade girl).

Bottom Line, If you are thinking about buying this phone, DON"T!!! The MOTO "ACTIVE" now sits in my closet as a backup as I just orderderd the Samsung Gravity which is available in LIME GREEN and silver, as well as TEAL and white. Unfortunately I had to opt for the Lime and silver as it looked less like a toy and more like a phone. Definately love the Gravity (despite its color choices -step up your game TMOBILE!) but can't wait to buy a black silicon skin to cover the horrible lime green accents.

"Nothing but problems" on by lleiphardt

Pros: I ordered this phone for my "active" lifestyle and enjoyed the sense that I could drop it and the bumper would cradle the fall. The rubber texture made it easy to grip too. Battery life was just ok.

Cons: I experienced nothing but problems with this phone. The back never fully attached and I was concerned that battery would fall out at any time. Then, it deleted all of my phone numbers with no warning! Also took too long to "think".

Summary: While I've always enjoyed Motorola phones, I think this one will require more testing to get the "bugs" out. My husband and I both ordered this phone and had similar issues with it. We both lost our phonebooks, though fortunately he was able to retrieve his. I have since ordered a different Motorola, which I'm hoping will bring me the dependability I've come to expect from the company. I still like the ruggedness of the Active but I wouldn't recommend this years' model.

"A poor excuse for a phone" on by Jonathan_Cuel

Pros: the 1 pro is the loop and strap. Pretty nifty.

Cons: Poor firmware. Sluggish response. Many text glitches. 9th day of use, phonebook entries disappear. Later same day, entire phonebook blanks out and text messaging stops working. Tried 2 end a call and phone would not respond or hang up.

Summary: Exceptionally bad phone. I'm returning mine to T-mobile. I'm very disappointed with this phone.

"Ruggid looking... But another peice of crap!" on by fuque-man

Pros: It's little strap is cute, and it's ok if you like cute phones.

Cons: It's nothing more then a krazr made out of plastic

Summary: It's more cheap junk that T-mobile offers as "good phone".
I dropped this phone on a safety mat at a gas station and the battery flew out. Ruggid? I think not.

It looks hardcore and looks like it can take a beating but it can't. It's hard to use, the screen sucks. It's confusing. And it's not worth what their selling it for.

If you want a ruggin phone that can withstand life. Switch to either AT&T or Sprint. They sell ruggid phones

"Worst phone ever made, by far!" on by geltoid

Pros: The only "rugged" phone I think T-Mobile has ever had.

Cons: - Terrible, glitichy, slow software.
    - Horrible user interface
    - Poor keypad design. Buttons arent responsive and arent seperated well enough. Makes texting difficult.
    - Inconsistent Battery life.
    - Problems with both USB interface and MicroSD slot

Summary: I work in the construction industry so I was looking for a phone that could withstand a little wear and tear. To my dismay, T-mobile only offered one phone that fit the criteria I was looking for... the Motorola w450.
Reading the specs, it seemed like a halfway decent phone at the time. So I went ahead and grabbed one.
    Big mistake.
Right from the start I had problems. The battery life ranged anywhere from 30minutes to 3hours on full charge. I brought it back to T-Mobile and they gave me a new battery. I thought my troubles were over. I was wrong... so wrong...
The phone suffers from TERRIBLE software problems which range from freezing the phone for 15 seconds every time you send a text message, to crashing the browser when receiving a picture message. Sometimes the phone sends 3 or 4 text messages to a mysterious vortex somewhere, and then send them to their recipients days or weeks later. Sometimes the phone wont ring at all and save up all the voicemails you receive for the day and then not give them to you until you take out the battery, wait 10 seconds, and then restart the phone.
The list of things wrong with this phone goes on, and on, and on... Many of them have been said a dozen times over in other reviews here (so I wont rehash them anymore). Chances are if you're here reading my review, you've read others.
So I'll leave you with these simple words of advice:

AVOID THIS PHONE AT ALL COSTS!
