"Not stellar, but pretty good. PTT is great."
Pros: Clear display. Voice readout. PTT. Decent voice recognition.
Cons: Battery life (but not terrible). Speaker phone a bit fuzzy. Can't assign uploaded music as a ringtone (but I've hacked it to do so!)
Summary: I've had PTT for about 4 years and this new generation is much better. The PTT alert tone is not great, but adequate. Connect times are significantly faster. I've seen several reviews about how their PTT network isn't as good as their standard network but it's been rare that I've not been able to use PTT. The coverage is still way better than Nextel (I used Nextel for 6 years at work and it was consistently horrible).
I don't care much about the multimedia features. After getting a 4GB miniSD card I can hold all my music. I don't do video and pic stuff so it doesn't matter how good or bad it is.
One thing I *do* like is that with the Motorola software updater and an application named P2KCommander, I can put my own MP3s in as ringtones, put on my own wallpapers, etc without incurring data charges. I have complete access to the phone's file system! Why is this good? In a stock phone, you can't just assign your music as ringtones (kinda sucky). Yes, using the software is a hack but it works fine. YMMV. As for problems w/ USB drivers... I've had none. I got a mini USB cable from Buy.Com and just grabbed the drivers from the web and it worked fine on my XP Home SP3 PC. BTW, I did my own phone software update using that Motorola Updater application. It actually fixed a little bug w/ the voice readout!
The bluetooth headset that VZW sells w/ it is decent too. Not something I'd want to wear for hours on end but it isn't bad and it's easy to use.
Overall I'm happy w/ the phone.
