Pros Solid construction
Cons Poor reception. Difficult to hear from speaker. Power jack design bad.
Summary This phone is solid. If dropped, it doesn't sound like parts are getting jarred around. This may be partly due to the belt clip case that surrounds a good portion of it. The reception is poor though. This is the third mobile phone at this same location with the same service but I experience many more dropped calls, especially compared to i355. Most annoying though is the power jack cover. While it probably provides water tightness, it is flush-mounted and is incredibly hard to access (even really hard to find). The headphone jack (rarely used) has a nice indention to allow for easy opening. Not so with the power jack cover. The speaker for your ear is difficult to hear. You have to have it very precisely positioned to be audible. Like the ruggedness and the reported ability to get wet (though haven't tested it), but disappointed with some items.
Pros Improved operating system, great battery life, much improved texting, Excellent call quality.
Cons Comes with a lower quality charger and without a micro sd card.
Summary It appears that Motorola was listening to the complaints that are most common. A bigger battery, improved software performance and internal antenna all point to improvements over the venerable i580. This could very well be the best rugged multi-media phone Nextel has ever offered.
Pros This phone is a WATER-RESITANT phone and you burry this fact into the second half of the written review and don't even mention it in the summary of ?The good." CNET didn?t bother to test its most notable and industry-innovative feature.
Cons Ken syas it?s a "barebones music player," then slams it for having a 3.5mm headset jack. Why? 2.5mm is the standard for high-quality cell-phone headsets, like Plantronics. 3.5 mm is the standard for music headsets; not this phone?s target user.
Summary Call quality and the speakerphone performance is buried at the back of the review, event though these and ruggedness are among the most important aspects for its target audience. Nextel Motorola phones typically have among the best speakerphones.
Forget the review. Go try one.
Pros Clear calls, great speaker phone and good reception.
Cons Clumsy feature set.
Summary I don't text, surf or take pics so all I wanted was a good solid phone and this is it!
The call clarity is great. The dial is well lit and easy to read and it picks up a better signal than previous phones
Pros When brand new...Features work and are enjoyable
Cons After a few short months of normal use or heaven forbid it falls out of the poorly designed clip one time onto as much as a grassy surface (which it will) Rt hinge will break allowing phone to flop open & closed.
Summary The first one I got just shut down by itself randomly (returned), the second one had the hinge of death (returned) and nextel button imploded on my current one along with the hinge of death.
Just avoid this model at all cost.
