"Horrible performance, no updates, silence from Moto"
on by egenlaufPros Looks nice, feels solid.
Cons Phone is buggy, response is lagging horribly, often cannot even answer a call or use the touchscreen keyboard. Been waiting for 3 months for an android update and the hacker community almost has a working image!
Summary Not worth it, unless you are a "droid" customer motorola could care less. Move on to an HTC phone or one of the new Samsung Galaxy S. If TMO would let me switch I would in a heartbeat. STAY CLEAR.

"THIS PHONE IS A COMPLETE DISASTER!! DO NOT BUY CLIQ XT!"
on by la_casa_bonitaPros Not many good things to report... 1. Nice Size 2. OK Camera with LED light, 3. Bright screen.... Other than that this device should be called Cliq XT with MotoFail.
Cons Support is horrible from Moto and T-Mobile for this device. Apps are starting to fail because OS is stuck on Android 1.5 and MotoBlur consumes too much space! Too many issues to list here, do a search on google for Cliq XT Update 2.1 and you'll see..
Summary Motorola and T-Mobile should not be selling this to consumers... it is a horrible disaster of a product!! The promise to have an update to Android 2.1 within a few weeks of purchasing the product seemed reasonable especially since many of the purchased apps that I worked flawlessly on my much older HTC G1 do not operate at all on the Cliq XT. I expected to move forward not backward when I "Upgraded" (Sarcastic expression) to the Cliq XT... I actually have started to cancel my service one line at a time with T-Moblie over their unwillingness to take this Cliq XT back and provide me with any reasonable alternative at no charge! Their last paltry offer was that I could spend another $300 to buy a different phone... I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH ISSUES LIKE E-MAIL THAT DOESN'T WORK FOR DAYS, APPLICATIONS THAT WILL NOT OPERATE AT ALL, HORRIBLE SUPPORT, AND YOU WANT ME TO PAY YOU MORE MONEY FOR AN UPGRADE??! DEAR T-MOBILE YOU SHOULD BE PAYING EVERYONE THAT HAS PURCHASED THIS CLIQ XT SOME MONEY OR GET THEM A DESCENT REPLACEMENT PHONE AND YOU SHOULD STOP SELLING THIS PHONE IMMEDIATELY UNTIL MOTOROLA CAN ACTUALLY FOLLOW THRU WITH THE PROMISED UPDATE TO ANDROID 2.x!!! ALSO, MOTOROLA YOU SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER LETTING USERS OF THIS PHONE HAVE AN OPTION TO REMOVE THE BLOATED MOTOBLUR SOFTWARE BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO WASTE A LOT OF SPACE COMPARED TO MY G1 AND MY TOUCH 3G. Go check out the following link to see how many unsatisfied people there are.. https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/176593#176593
The truth about the problems with the Cliq / Cliq XT have been expressed with a few thousand responses at Motorola's forum... https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/244468#244468

P.S. Motorola seems to have been monitoring and editing the forums about these devices a little bit, not sure what kind of information they have been trying to hide. -
"Hated it but came to really like it a lot."
on by c5sterPros It's easy to use for us non-tech types. Camera is great, love playing the games and SWIPE, which I hated but the guy said give it a week and he was right. I love it.
Cons You CANNOT delete history. For every Contact you can view the history between your phone and that Contact. Time date duration of incoming and outgoing calls and texts only WORSE- first part SHOWN- EVEN if deleted! delete contact will clear.
Summary So if you anything to hide do not get this phone. The forum sites are full of complaints about not being able to clear the history part off from a Contact so Motorola knows there's a problem and users don't like it but they've moved on with their product line so why bother? Another down side you cannot upgrade its Android system. But for this 50 year old Mom who doesn't Tweet or Facebook it's a good cheap phone and a perfect gateway to get use to Smart phones. Cause they're not going away. Do not fear, if I can use it anyone can use it. Plus the screen's big which helps us 50+ year olds!

"Looks good at first glance, but not in the end."
on by J-DyzzlePros Some of the apps that it comes with are fantastic. The GPS and google maps always gets me where I'm going, and the music recognition is also very good. The camera takes surprisingly good pictures, as well as videos. And sound quality is also pretty good.
Cons I am on my third, due to poor software problems, none of which have ever ceased. Drops calls, (if they go through, regardless of how many bars you have) sends text messages not to the person they are addressed to, but rather the last person you received a
Summary The google mapping works fantastic, but the rest of the phone is more trouble than it is worth. I got it with the belief I would be getting the Android 2.0 update within the month that I bought it, and it has been well over a year since then, no update. The phone freezes and crashes. The browsing and emailing generally works alright if you have a good connection where you are, but often I get dead silence when I try to make a call, as the screen is stuck on "Connecting". At least they replaced it (twice) when it because almost completely unusable, but the problems always come back in the end. Motoblur keeps motorola from being able to update it to a newer version of android. The processing speed is good, but poor programming keeps it from being a reliable phone.

"Insanely slow and very sluggish!!"
on by ryanpmcgPros It has internet capability.
Cons The Cliq XT is very slow and freezes up left and right.
Summary I would NOT recommend this phone to anyone unless all you want is to call, text and check your email. Otherwise its only good as a paperweight.
