"Needs better external disply" on by Don Cobib

    Pros: lots of great features

Cons: caller ID impossible to see

Summary: While the phone works great, and the camera with it's video are a blast to use. The web works great, much better than the older Nextel phone.

However if you need reading glasses the Caller ID is impossible to use. This phone should have a horizontal external display. I have tried everything to improve the look of the external display, even turned the clock off, but you can not remove the clock from the external display.

I don't think, or at least I can't find any brightness controls in the menu.

Also a few times when I shut the flip on the phone, that it didn't end the call.

I has a lot of potential, but for those of us in the 40's and older the external display is useless. I have talked to Sprint and Motorola, but got no help.

    Updated
I just got back from the Sprint store where I bought the ic902. I wanted to check out the i880, I know it doesn't have the two network capability, but I can live without the sprint network. Well non of the nextel phones could reciev calls. So with my fully charged 902 I called sprint customer service. While on a 15-20 minute call the battery went dead. Holly Crap

Well went to another Sprint store, and one of the employees had a 1880 so I got to try it, and what a difference, I can read the caller ID from 3 feet away. So now the ic902 is gone and I am happy to be rid of it

"Not a Long Lasting Phone" on by cpr_1

Pros: Lots of Features. The Fact that it is a hybrid. Better reception than a stand alone Nextel phone.

    Cons: Way too many glitches

Summary: To me, it's no wonder that Motorola stopped making this phone. I bought it in March and have come to realize that I'm not the only person that the phone keeps shutting off on for no reason. Then it would freeze at the start-up screen. The final straw was when the keypad stopped responding (another problem I've learned other people of had).
I bought this phone as an upgrade from the ic502 buzz in March 2008. The shutting off thing happened only a couple of times and I thought nothing of it really. By September, things got worse and then the keypad stopped responding. I couldn't answer the phone if it rang, which cost me money cause it was my job calling for overtime and I couldn't return any texts. I didn't drop the phone or get it wet; it just wouldn't respond. Then it worked for an hour and stopped again. After paying almost $200 for the phone six months ago, I went to the store and they said that they had no idea how to fix it as they never seen this problem before (again, crap because I've since read about it on other forums). They also told me that since I didn't have insurance on the phone, that I would either have to send it out for a month or pay full price for another phone, which I thought was a load of crap for how much I spent just a few months ago.
To me, the bottom line is that phones for Nextel/Sprint aren't that great. I have gone through so many phones in the six years I've had them due them not being well built.

BTW, after arguing with Sprint, I was able to get the new V950 for a discounted price. I told them I wanted a hybrid that is bluetooth capable and this was the phone they suggested as the equivalent/upgrade to the ic902. BEWARE THIS IS NOT A HYBRID!!! This is a Sprint phone that has PTT capability. Therefore, your old plans don't work on this phone. I was shocked to find out that I have to pay $20 more a month to get a similar plan to what I had in the past and I don't even get more minutes. Yeah, I have GPS (which I don't need cause I already have one that sticks to my windshield and has a screen I can actually follow), and Sprint TV (which I could've gotten in the past but didn't want, and unlimited texting (which I never went over on my 1,000 texts a month before). Total rip-off.

"Good Phone to suck your wallet thank you nextel sprint." on by seking0011

Pros: This Phone has all the features you might want, no doubt about that.

Cons: all features are locked, that makes the phone useless

Summary: Sprint/Nextel knows how to sell,
tell told me the phone does this and that so i went for it.
however they left out one thing,
i have to pay them EXTRA for me to be able to use this extra features.
    Mp4? not a chance
you must pay a subscription to be able to play your own videos.
3gp format oh well it plays but it jerks.
oh by the way you must bring your
magnifier glass, because the video is so small Why? your guess is good as mine.
ring tones?no matter what format you use
    qcp / mp3 / m4a e.t.c. no way jose.
you must pay for the ring tones.
bluetooth?strike three, the only thing that works it is an earpiece.
    transfer files? Oh NO NO.
    only thru your flashcard.
but if it is an audio file or anything you want to use to flavor your IC902?
    Ha Ha. (Sorry)
most of the great features in this phone are LOCKED.
if you are willing to pay for them
then i guess it will be a great phone,
    my recomendations are,
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE.it is not worth it
to pay 600.00 retail price or 330.00
    with a 2 year contract.

get ready to use your credit card to pay for all the features.

    Updated
well today is dec/04/07 i got this phone
less then 30 days ago thru sprint/nextel
well my reviews on this phone are
    100 percent bad.
the price for the phone is extremely high comparing with other phones.
    cons.
the phone the way is built is terrible
the phone case is made out of plain plastic
the jack the charger the sd card doors are made out of rubber hanging by a tiny piece of rubber that thing is gone you lose your cover (non replacable)
walkie talkie is worst then a boostmobile phone,i live in an area where they should be great reception but ic902 keeps losing the signal, the menu on the phone is not user friendly, too many menus.
the video display is also terrible
i play videos on a phone that is 3 years old, and they play great. but with ic902
the video is jerki and out of sync.
plus the image size is too small why?
when setting an alarm if you turn down the volume the alarm does not sound.
the button to open the phone is way to hard to push, for some one with artritis will be imposible to open the flip cover.
when surfing internet there are no images
    only text. (boomer)
the battery cover it is very thin easy to brake.when playing music it will not allow you to create a playlist if its outside the (music)folder.the list goes on and on.
    like wallpapers,ringtones,video
be prepared to pay extra to be able to use those features.
also customer service it is the worst ever,
    they dont care about you
for me to get customer support
i had to go thru there menu TWICE to find out
i had to be transfer to a Hybrid technician
how soon they resolve my problems?
    days with out phone service.
    no way jose.
so i decided to return there pho
