"Great phone, great features, expensive!" on by meda555
Pros: Nice feel, great looking screen, rugged, sprint/nextel hybrid, power vision features and lots of extras
Cons: Bug in phone software!
Summary: This is more of a first look review, i just bought the phone 2 days ago. My wife and i actually just traded in our ic502's for this phone and were amazed at first. Whenever i try to do anything with stored pictures or video the phone will freeze! I think this issue has to do with a needed phone update that is not available at the moment but i am keeping faith. It is hard for me to type all of the things i love about the phone, which is almost everything, because i am so frustrated with the phone freezing whenever i try to use picture mail or other areas in the picture and video portion of the phone. This is not just my phone but also my wife's phone will freeze in the same place! It is almost like the program is just bad becuase the phone will allow me to turn it off no problem and the phone will make the normal sounds when certain buttons are pushed. I have had phones before that just lock up and you have to remove the battery. This is not the case with this phone, it seems like it wants to work but the program just gets stuck. So i am giving the phone an eight with frustration and faith in it getting an update to fix the bug. Maybe i will write another review when the phone gets the update!
Updated
So my first review was a little bit biased since i was just in a frustrated state of mind. What are the odds of my wife and i getting two phones with the same defect? Well we traded them in for two new ones and the phones work great! This phone has a great way of feeling sleek and rugged. The phone is surprisingly slender but feels tough! The phone itself has a satisfying weight to it and has a nice coarse gunmetal plastic material surrounding it that eliminates finger prints! I even read up that the casing has an anti-microbial material which is good since i work in a lab. When you open the phone up for the first time you will be amazed by the sharp rich screen that spans across the phone. The screen is so detailed and easy to read. Every button feels rugged an yet sleek at the same time. The phone has so many options and features i do not even know the half of them yet. There are useful tools such as tip calculators, unit converter, currency converter, advanced calculator, mp3's, video's, sprint power vision, on demand, 2.0 mega pixel camera and more! I love the Nextel features being a previous sprint customer. The Nextel Walkie is a blessing! When i ride my bike i use the supplied clip and clip the phone onto the strap of my camel back and my wife can easily get a hold of me while all i have to do is reach across my chest and hit a button to talk. There is also an external speaker button that you can press to answer the phone if someone calls you so you never even have to open the phone. The Nextel walkie has a direct talk mode which instead of using the network will actually work like a 2-way radio with a 6 mile range. This feature is great when we go hiking where there is no phone service! You can even talk to anyone who has a Nextel phone with the "direct talk" option and have group talks if more people go hiking with us. The phone is loud when the volume is up and no matter how loud you go, the quality never distorts even with the speaker. The applications on the phone work very fast and fluid like. I am very picky with electronics and i feel that this phone has set a new standard in almost every category. The best part about this phone is that it is a Sprint and Nextel Hybrid so it the phone coverage is unrivaled and also the fact sprint has no roaming charges. The Sprint PCS network is crystal clear and works everywhere i need it and when it does not work, i will get Nextel. This is the first phone i have ever seen of all the employees that work at my lab that will actually get signal. And it is not just barely getting it, it will have about 2 to 3 bars! The walkie feature is just like the cherry on top! I need to say this phone should be a 10! -
"This is IC902 NOT a Razr!" on by prelude619
Pros: IDEN with CDMA!
Cons: iDEN still has crappy reception
Summary: This is the best product Nextel has ever had! I love both features but the best thing is that if the Radio doesnt work, you can still make phone calls! The media player is a little awkward but not hard to get used to. Only one day with this thing and Im impressed!

"Buy this Phone! Great solution to Nextel and Sprint(or anyone) All the features+Great plan pricing!" on by Salomonskier720
Pros: Amazing Phone with Amazing Service Spring Power Vision (everything offered in sprint data services)+Nextel D.C. Solid phone+Cheap Data services Packages specially priced for PowerSource phones
Cons: Minor Details: -Cannot access all web pages on the internet(expected)+Unable to use the phone as a modem at this time. Caller ID doesn't always work
Summary: This is the best Sprint or Nextel phone I have ever seen and used! I would recommend this phone to anyone with sprint or Nextel services. Sprint users might want to switch just for the cheaper data service packages. Powersource voice plans are the same as any Sprint or Nextel plan (NO ROMING CHARGES, OR NATION WIDE DIRECT D.C. CHARGES EVER!!!)unless outside the US. This is b/c of the expanding coverage sprint/nextel offers. The Data Services are cheaper than the Sprint ones and they are 10 times better than anything Nextel will ever offer. 10$ for Everything(pix+flix) and 1000 text or 15$ for everything and unlimited text, pix, flix. Visit sprint.com and look up Powersource data services for a more in depth description.
This phone has everything. I am going to try and not repeat all the things already included in the C-net review.(Everything so far has been right) It has a very sturdy, rock solid feel to the phone. Bright vibrant display inside and out. Great picture quality(for a phone). Micro SD allows for long camcorder videos and lots of pictures and songs.
I really liked the direct connect feature because all of my friend have nextel, but I usually had bad service inside my house(not near a window) and pretty much every where else I went. I had been with nextel for a long time, I thought about switching service providers all of the time until sprint and Nextel combined. But for a while it seemed that they were never going to combine the towers. Then the hybrid phones came out. I waited for this particular model b/c it offered all the bells and whistles you could want with a phone. The PCS coverage is amazing compared to Nextels IDen. I now have service all throughout my house(AMAZING) and full bars pretty much every where else I go.
I use to have a Motorola i850. When it came time to transfer my contacts, all i had to do was take out my SIM from my i850 and insert it into the ic902. I was able to start the ic902 and copy the contacts directally onto the phone. I then put the ic902 SIM in and my contacts where right there(Very nice).
note:The Powersource phones have SIM cards
that only work with that exact phone.
Apparently you can use this phone as a modem but right now sprint doesn't support it. The caller ID is also a little screwy. Sometimes it displays who is calling or who sent me a text and other times it just displays the phone # although i have the contact saved.
The only thing that really upset me about the ic902 was that fact the in my area code(616) there was some sort of agreement where spring/nextel could not allow Powersource phones to work with that area code. This meant that I had to change to a (269) area code and change my cell #. I was told that this is an extremely rare occurance so I don't think anyone should worry. The tech support did allow me to pick out any area code across the entire U.S. though.
Tip: If you are currently A Nextel costumer(like I was) or mabye even If you are a sprint costomer. Don't just order the phone on ebay or at a store but instead call Nextel and talk to the account services and explain to them that you are getting poor service and that you don't know what to do. The support person will then more than likely suggest a Powersource phone at witch point you will say that you don't want to pay the full price b/c you want better service without a $500 phone. Leverage your multiple lines(if you have them) and act like you might cancel. I even said at one point"Nextel really doesn't seem like they want want me to be a valued costomer". The account services people should offer you the phone for at least under $200. I am not sure if this will work for everyone but it worked for me. I got my ic902 for around $100. Good Luck!!!
In conclusion this is an excellent phone even for the price and I don't feel bad at all for spending a little extra money to get the best service at the best price out there(it does help when I get an 18% discount every month). Email me if you want that discount or have any other questions that I might be able to assist you with.(I know how it is when you don't have the product in my possession) Salomonskier720@hotmail.com -
"First real Hybrid" on by sincere11105
Pros: Great features. Nice Look. Button to open. Agion.
Cons: Battery Life iffy. Expensive
Summary: I bought this phone as a replacement for my ic 402 (which was horrible). I am happy with this upgrade. I love the sprint network for the voice calls and the data. And the Nextel walkie-talkie all in one. The only thing is that when I was using the phone with 2 bars of battery life, the phone started beeping with the low battery display. I dont really understand that. I dont know if there is a extended battery for this phone. If not I have to purchase an additional battery. Besides that, this phone is great.

"Great Phone...Why no Talking Caller ID?" on by sbahreini
Pros: Almost everything about this phone is prime
Cons: Minor, but no talking caller ID for incoming callsMotorola Deluxe ic902
Summary: Almost perfect. Gave it a ten because the one problem is only weird to me. Everything is perfect except the fact that it doesn't have a talking caller id function. Wonder why motorola left it out when it gave talking features to many other parts of the phone. Talking caller ID would be good for people who don't want to look at the caller id to see who is calling, but that is a minor thing honestly and it shouldn't get in the way of this phone being absolutely perfect in every way. I have had it for a while and couldn't be happier. If I am wrong about the talking Caller Id, I would be glad for anyone to prove me wrong. But Do yourself a favor and consider this phone because you can't do better. The IPhone is nothing compared to good design, sterdy parts, and worthwhile and usable features...
Updated
Better than anything out there right now and better the IPhone by leaps and bounds. Perfect in almost every way, except where is the talking Caller ID? Would have been nice to have. But don't let that discourage you. If I am wrong about the Caller ID, I would be more than glad to be proven worng. Just give this a chance and you won't be disapointed in any way...
