Screen goes black. Mine has gone black twice in two days and was not able to revive. Had to remove the battery to reset it.Summary: The phone is a week old and has not been abused. Verizon has always been good to me over the years but their techs refused to help. Said I had to have 2 documented incidents with their help line before they would consider a replacement. Then the manager and tech fessed up to them having to pull the batteries occasionally on theirs. I told them that if I had known that I never would have bought it. With business call and managing kids reliability is mandatory. Gotta love Beta testing pushed on the consumer. How Motorola would debut a new Android phone with the old OS 1.6 is a very poor business decision. What marketing genius strategically tied the OS to a specific phone? Do they want their customers to be upset? I am. You would think that with all of the operating system issues that Microsoft has had that people in the OS industry would really try to avoid the same fate. It's not very good for business. The Apple OS is so slick and works so well that people flock to it in droves. The only reason I didn't buy one is that Verizon doesn't sell one. Smarten up Motorola. I want to like your product. Get the best OS and implement it across all platforms and you will build consumer loyalty. Give Apple some competition, not help their sales!

Pros: when it is working it is a great device
Cons: battery life isn't close to what is advertised does not charge from many outlet (planes and cars)even with the Verizon provided kit. random reboots and shut down & locks up with white screen unit needs to be replaced. This is not a reliable device.
Summary: I have 2 of these units on my plan and have had 5 replacements so far. I am going to the Verizon store tomorrow for another replacement. The device is not stocked in stores and with the phone dying on a Thursday night I will be without service until Monday when I receive a replacement. This will be the 6th replacement. Verizon suggests that I extend my contract by 2 years and purchase another expensive device.....so basically I am being told by Verizon...... We know your unhappy.... spend more money with us..

Pros: -Metal casing (reminds you of the same casing on the macbook)-Best construction I've ever seen on a smartphone---as I've used a lot of them
-Nice keyboard
-Battery slides in from the side of the phone not in the rear like most
-Talk Time 6.5 hoursCons: -Low screen resolution--small screen
-Volume (not as loud as my BB Storm 2)
-On/Off Button at top left---flush w/phone-difficult to press
-8 GB Memory Card---most smartphones come w/at least 16 GB Memory CardsSummary: First, I hold the opinion that if you are a "Business Smartphone user" and 'email' is most important to you, it's difficult to find another smartphone that out performs any Blackberry.
Oh yea, by the way, the Motorola Devour's camera is merely 3.0 MP with no flash!
I decided to try the Motorola Devour (Currently using a Blackberry Storm2---before that Blackberry Storm1). I was impressed with the Motorola Devour's metal construction, VCast services and the Keyboard. (I struggle w/typing on my BB Storm 2 touch screen)* I had trouble setting up my mindspring email account. I was easily able to set up my AOL and Yahoo email accounts. Seems a lag time in receiving mail----not quite real time like on my BB Storm 2. The front screen on the Devour uses "MotoBlur" which intergrates social services like Twitter, Facebook and My Space. If socials services are a top priority for you---this phone is great.
If business use is the top priority, this phone falls short. The low resolultion & smaller screen will be noticeable only IF you've used a smartphone with a higher resolution and a larger screen. Resolution on the Motorola Devour is 320x480. The Motorola Droid is
480x854!
In my opinion, the Motorola Devour is more suited for the younger-teen crowd than a business professional. My overall opinion about the phone is that it's "ok".
Again, I have to reiterate, I've used LOTS of phones! The Motorola Devour is the best constructed smartphone I've ever used as the metal construction is solid though heavy.
The talk time on the Motorola Devour is 6.5 hours---which is most impressive.
Additionally given the Motorola Devour is longer than the BB Storm 2 and longer than the Motorola Droid---but the screen is shorter at 3.1 inches vs. 3.7 inches on the Motorola Droid and 3.3 inches on the Blackberry Storm 2.
i plan to sell the Motorola Devour on Ebay. I'm staying with my Blackberry Storm 2.

Pros: Slick design, responsive, great apps.
Cons: Camera lacking, screen not full face.
Summary: The phone is great. Even with 1.6, you can quickly get the features of 2.0 from the android store. I love the 5 home screens, and the super customizability. You can set it up however you want. Motoblur is fantastic as well. It quickly synchs all of your contacts from multiple accounts. I love the phone, but not the camera. It does get the job done though. I use an actual camera for the great pictures, and don't need super high res pictures from my phone.

Pros: Web browsing, facebook, and keyboard are all great features of the DEVOUR. MotoBlur makes it extremely easy to update facebook, twitter, and other social networking accounts. The keyboard is definitely an upgrade from the DROID. Fast web browsing.
Cons: Bulkiness, small touch screen, Android 1.6, and photo quality were all disappointing. The phone still runs smoothly on the 1.6 OS but is not as functional as the DROID.
Summary: Since purchasing and activating this phone yesterday, I have spent a lot of time getting acclimated to its features and functions. It is by no means a "bad" phone, but could have been better. Verizon is offering it for $199 (new 2-year contract price) with a $100 mail-in rebate. Overall, for $100, it was not a bad financial decision... definitely operates better than the BlackBerry Storm I had upgraded from, but I still may decide to return it if I can't get used to the bulky size, and heaviness of the phone.
