  • "Phone for people moving from flip to touch."
    on by gabelevinson

Pros High call quality, voice commands, bright screen, nice tectile touch screen. Good music, many features.

Cons Small touch key board in landscape makes for poor texting experience. Browser was hard to navigate and so so overall
page quality. no Wi Fi like the new Omnia.

Summary Best phone for calling ,music, and video the flip cover is a plus or a minus based on personal tastes. very strong signal in my marginal location. Best as a transition phone from flip to touch.
this one is both. this phone is clever but not quite "Smart".

Like the phone less and less, here's some gripes: No way to delete in/out call globally, if you let them accumulate you'll spend hours clearing the memory. No shortcut to favorites, hence no speed dialing. touch screen not always accurate., hard to open case with one hand. Speaker phone did work well but in general the phone needs a new software update to take care of shortcomings ASAP and not a minor update either! If it wasn't for my daughter "needing" to be on Verizon due to her group of friends I would dump it and go with Virgin Mobil for 6.99 a month for a basic plan! and save big! Better yet I wish Obama will roll out a max fi through out the country and lets dump the Phone com. altogether.

Ok after owning this phone for almost a year, I can say it sucks big time. Let me count the ways:
    1. no one click for important numbers, in fact it takes 5 clicks to dial a "shortcut" number, and those 5 are touch screen where you bond to miss one on the not so well calibrated touch screen.

Maneuvering the phone address book is hard long and confusing.
    2. hard to open, you need 2 hands to open the cover- try that while driving!
    3. poor battery life.
    4. no easy way to clear memory of outgoing or incoming calls, you need to clear each entry using 3 steps-yeeks so unless you remember to clean it daily you will fill the memory fast and it will take you hours to clean it- Hours!!
    4. camera sucks pic quality is poor!
    5. no way to customize icons on screen.
    etc etc etc.....

  • "I've had the phone since it came out, and it's great."
    on by njbrave08

Pros -The touchscreen is very responsive
-Music player is, in my opinion, outstanding.
    -Very slick and cool design
-I actually find the second touch screen very useful, for reading texts and for music.
    -Nicely sized screen
    -Great battery life

Cons -Awkward keyboard, but you get used to it.
-From what I've heard, a bad web browser
-If you forget to use the hold key, you'll turn things like TV on while the phone is in your pocket.

Summary Overall, I love the phone. It gives a pretty sleek interface along with a pretty sick design, and the dual touchscreen is just cool. I'd recommend this to anyone, unless that person was a hardcore texter. Don't get me wrong, it's fine for most texters, but you won't be getting 60 words a minute out there.

I forgot to add that the speaker is surprisingly loud for a little phone, and it sounds great.

  • "Decent phone with a few demons built-in"
    on by Firemark1817

Pros The clear cover and lock stops accidental butt calls. Call sound quality is excellent including the speakerphone. The voice announcements for incoming calls and voice commands work well. Some names are badly mispronounced.

Cons Vibrate mode is hardly noticeable. Goes berzerk when dialing voice mail that prompts for additional key entries. Sometimes the screen goes blank 2 seconds after dialing and does not wake up until the call is dropped.

Summary The touch screen is tough to use with man size fingers. The dialpad disappears about 2 seconds after starting a call which is a problem for dialing numbers that have subsequent prompts, INCLUDING Verzizon's Tech Support line and Voice Mail. Pressing the Home Button sometimes wakes up the display for the dialpad but not on a consistent basis. Other times, the diapad stays awake but does not respond to allow entry.

Verizon Tech Support is competing with Comcast for the worst possible experience. You are required to listen to a maze of options then key in your phone number and last 4 digits of SSN. If you are lucky enough to find your way to live operator you have to repeat this same information. Inevitably you get transferred 3 or more times and each time have to repeat providing the same information before they finally transfer your call to purgatory where no one picks up the line.

Forgot to mention the battery life is an issue, especially with bluetooth activated. I forgot to turn off the feature at night and the phone was completely dead by morning, requiring the battery to be removed and reinserted before it would start charging.

If you are thinking of replacing your iPod with the music player here, think again. Transferring music is anything but automatic and resulting sound quality is AM Radio like.

The micro USB connector is also an issue. Verizon sells a "universal" connector for your Phone to PC that doesn't quite fit the phone. Motorola doesn't even list one on their site that's compatible with this phone. I found one at wirelessground.com for $10 that does the job.

Returned Phone... found 6 people in line doing the same thing.

There are apparently a number of bad phones released when this model came out. My 30 day window was closing so I had no choice but to return it. The ear piece stopped working recently which was the last straw.

If you haven't bought one yet, you might want to wait, especially since they just RAISED the price and eliminated rebates.

  • "Nice phone with limited features"
    on by happykayan

Pros Clear touch screen, ease of use, cool design

Cons Features are limited such as speed dial or camera options. It's a bit big and heavy (but it's a touch screen phone).

Summary Overall I like the phone. Sound quality is clear and navigation is easy. Wish I could change the options on the cover page though. Also I cannot create any shortcut. Be careful that the USB cover (same as the battery cover) is loose. If you text all the time, it's probably not a great idea to use this phone as the keyboard is hard to use.

  • "Great idea, but the design can be improved"
    on by bluehorseshoe

Pros Razor style, sharp screen, VZW network

Cons Typing on it is a pain with the flip top in the way, screen a tad slow in response, the VZW browser

Summary I'll keep this one short. I was really looking forward to this phone, but typing on it is near impossible for me with the top open and using the full keyboard. I was surprised at how 'in the way' it really was. Slowed down my typing, made it uncomfortable. Everything else looked fine, although you can download the Opera Browser (thanks VZW). I think the BB Storm is the phone to buy...
