"HATE this phone! Horrible!" on by lc81002

Pros: Rubbery coating on exterior seems like it would be fairly scratch- and wear-resistant.

Cons: Battery dies very quickly (exchanged for a new one and no improvement), gets no signal in places my old phone or my husband's phone (also Verizon) got full strength signal, rubber covers for charger/headphones won't stay in place, LOUD ringtones.

Summary: We are on the "new every 2" plan and my husband decided to upgrade his phone to the LG Dare. I have never really cared about having a fancy phone, so we just went with the B1G1 deal at the time, which was for this Motorola phone. I didn't even use the phone once, and the battery died within 12 hours of bringing it home. I fully charged it and it didn't last 24 hours on that. I was also annoyed that the little rubber covers that go over the ports for the charger/USB cord and headphones are nearly impossible to push back into place correctly and constantly popped out.

We took it back to the Verizon store and asked to change to a different phone, but were told that we'd have to pay a $35 restocking fee plus the difference in price between the phone and whatever new one we picked out. They said at the store that nobody had ever brought one of these phones back and complained about it, so they really thought it was defective. We decided to not be out any money and swap it for the same phone. The new one holds a charge a little bit longer than the first one (about 24 hours - still MUCH less than it is supposed to last, and compared to my old phone, which lasted ~2 weeks on one charge, this is just ridiculous) but the battery life is still a joke. It also gets no signal in many places where my old phone worked just fine (like, oh, in my HOUSE...and we have no land line, so I need my phone to work at my house!), and where my husband's phone (also on the Verizon network) gets a strong signal and works fine.

Verizon has agreed to let us exchange the phone for a different one now, but we will still have to pay the $35 restocking fee. I think that's ridiculous, but at this point I hate this phone so much that I will pay the darn $35 to be rid of it and get something that actually works. Heck, I'd rather have my old phone reactivated than deal with this one any longer! It's a little beat up after 2 years, but at least it gets a signal and doesn't die on me all the time!

"Very good basic phone" on by bill5863

Pros: I like the size and feel of this phone. The most sturdy of the phones that I looked at. Easy to text from. I have had great battery life up to 7 days. Call quality is good and the speaker phone works very well. Very good price from Verizon

Cons: I found it a little to easy to access the internet and incur additional charges (had that turned off). No video but I never used it in the past

"Good phone if you want Mickey Mouse Ears" on by Bornredprincess

    Pros: small, non-slick surface

Cons: Back cover never fit just right. Charge & earphone holes have rubber pieces that WILL NOT stay in place. They keep popping out, making the phone look as if it has Mickey Mouse ears.. The 'ears' get snagged on everything...

Summary: I LOVE Motorola... It is my favorite brand, this one just happens to be a dud...

"A good, inexpensive mobile phone." on by Easieremail

Pros: I like the size of the phone and the quality of the calls. It does have a good feel due to the rubber-like casing. The number pad allows for easy navigation of the phones menus. The price is very good.

Cons: All 3 of us got the same phone, which I learned is not customizable, i.e. no skins available for it. I had some difficulty downloading ringtones. They are downloaded as "sounds" and I have yet to discover how to convert the "sound" to a ringtone.

Summary: We will not be returning the phone so all in all I suppose it's a keeper. The display on the outside of the phone is somewhat customizable so this is how we will distinguish our phones from one another. This is a "mom" phone in the same way a minivan is a "mom" car. It's very functional, but not cool in the least.
