Pros: Thin - Blah blah blah

    Cons: Completely Resticted

Summary: I am sorry I don't know what people are talking about when they say this phone is great. I have a Moto V710 and it is more customizable than this thing. Yeah it is a thin phone but even the color for me is disappointing!

First off I love Verizon. Never really liked the choice of phones they have and thought that thigs were changing.

I wasn't elligable for an upgrade so I paid $419 + tax. Maybe that is why I am so upset but i dought it. First off they have the phone set up so that you have these horrible thick RED bars at the top and bottom of the phone so no matter what background you put it looks squished. Second you can only customize the down button. Yeah that is it! You have to leave both of the soft buttons as message and contacts. The up - left - right buttons are locked and are only for paying options: Vcast - Get it now - Open wave ( a way to look at my account ) nice feature but not necessary to lock it on my home screen.

I got the belt clip for it and it is a total pain to tak out. It almost falls out of my hands every time.

The camera has some nice features but doesn't make up for the non user freindly setup that the whole phone has. I am so so disappointed in this first Razor for Verizon. I am taking it back after having it for 6 hrs. Shouldn't I give it more of a chance? NO WAY. I am not going to pay what I paid for a pocket PC (samsung i730)and have a phone that is this restricted.

    IN CLOSING:

If you are a simple phone user and are going from a green back lit phone to your first color phone then have at it. You might be dazled enough by your upgrade that it might not matter to you.

If you are a seasoned cell phone buyer and are looking for an exceptable upgrade from the crappy available phones Verizon is famouse for then keep waiting for something else. This isn't what you are wanting or waiting for. You will be pi_s_d and it isn't worth the 20 min of your life activating it( another pain in the A_S )

I hope this helps. I have spent over 15 hrs between reading reviews, phone calls ect. and feel I have waisted all of it. I hope this save you some time. Because the review that have been placed must be for the Alltel version which I hear isn't resticted like this one.
^(^&#$^%^&^&^$^% %^*%^& $%*$&*% And that is how I feel about this phone and all the time I want to spen on it even though I have more to say. Because I have other things to do......

    SUCKS A$S.

hands down the worse piece of shi!t ever.

If the delay wasn't bad enough, when using the inferface, after they fixed it with the software upgrade, they made it so the outer screen is always some ****** brownish orange color, what a waste.

Don't buy this phone, the KRZR is way better, a little longer, but way better if you want the slim factor.

You are just pissed that you spent so much money, and that really must suck since you could get it for free now! It's called spell check dude.

This user isn't very happy and he can't spell. You should really proof it before you submit. People would get more out of your review if they thought you knew how to spell.

This is what you sign-up for when you deal with Verizon, and you should know this because you’ve been with them for at lease a year.

Why did you think it was going to be different just because you bought a new phone? They put the same OS on ALL of their phones so they can control what you do with the software.

Any Verizon phone is completely peed-on, with their name and logos. You should have cancelled your contract and went to another carrier, then bought a RAZR with them. It would have worked out to about $400.00 either way.

I do not care if you do curse or not, my problem is that the defects that you have pointed were worthless in the efficacy of a phone, customize and personalize, I am sorry, but cellphones are NOT toys, and kids do not pay $400+ on one because is trendy, cool and new. If you were a little more reasonable you would know that the depreciation value on electr. is so high that in a couple of months the phone will not be worth $400.Also, if you are to make a comment or review on an item online, do it so efficiently because like you have complained of wasted time reading reviews, it seems that you must have all the time in the world to buy a phone and return it in six hours, because that was sufficient time for you to read the manual, practice with the features and use the phone constantly to be bothered by your belt clip! Stick to the facts and be intelligent, please.

No other carrier in the United States has a standard UI. Verizon likes to control their customers as much as possible. This menu is popping up in more and more of their phones. If I was in your situation, I would go with Cingular. Better phones, 100% digital network.

You did get a bad deal at $400 when many, like myself only paid $99. There is software out there to "unlock" all functions of this phone. You just have to "look around" in forums to learn how to do it. For the novice many functions are restricted, but with a little leg work, you get a super thin phone that can even be used as a mobile modem for your laptop!

Well first I dont want you to mislead people. The Razr is fully customizable. The soft keys can be changed to what ever you want them to be. I have mine set on media gallery and recent calls. You can change them to anything you want. As for red lines there are none on mine. I suspect that you may have bought a bad phone. I also bought a belt clip but mine is a leather semi-padded case. The clip rotates and works very well. I love this phone.

Oh Jeez, Rollyn - that sounds like a really bad experience with this thing.

Others had/have such a great experience with this thing, that it's clear that what makes your and others' reviews so valuable is that you, and any other reviewer, present an opinion of a device that reflects your preferences, requirements, likes/dislikes.

For instance, you like your phone to have a lot of customization, which this phone doesn't have. I don't do a lot of customization.

Also, you paid full-price for this thing. I, like you, would hold this thing to extremely high standards for that kind of coin. I anticipate I can get mine for approximately $150, through company discounts/etc. I suspect the price of this thing will further drop like a rock in the next three months. At a lower price point, this becomes a better phone in my opinion, without any change in its functionality as it stands today.

You noted problems/frustrations with the belt clip. If I used a belt clip, this would be a factor for me. I don't, though, so the quality of the belt clip does not matter to me.

You prefer to be able to have more versatility/control in what your phone will display - hence the frustration with the persistent/unwanted red bars on the phone screen. Personally, for me, I just don't care if those bars are there or not. I can live with them and it isn't at all a minus for me, with my likes/preferences/etc.

So, it's all in the eye of the beholder. But it's great to hear each beholder's opinion, in light of their particular beholdences/preferences/etc.

For me, I'm very encouraged by the many reports of great reception, exterior durability, internal screen quality, great picture quality/resolution, and basic bluetooth versatility. These qualities are what are valuable/important to me. This razr remains on the short list for me.
