Pros: People notice it. People dig it.

    Cons: Doesn't like sweaty cheeks.

Summary: Be careful with this phone. I live in Thailand, and it is very warm here. That metal fabbed number plate is very susceptible to moisture from your cheek: It rusts. If you are prone to sweating even a little bit, that oh-so-pretty metal number pad will be spotted with rust within a couple of months of buying it.

    for proof go to
http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details/0,,69,00.html

the man's claim is perfectly valid. if it isnt redundant enough, chemical etching eats away at the metal to create a certain pattern. when exposed to the right chemicals it can get corroded or the plating may wear away exposing the brownish copper underneath, which was mistaken for rust. anyway.... its a flaw to be concerned about. DUH aluminum doesnt rust, but DUH you dont know what metal the keypad is made of! do some research before you diss someone retard!

I live in Thailand also and this corrosion is a constant problem with the hot, humid climate. I have had the same thing happen with a Sony Mini-disk player, an alloy Minolta digital camera and a Nikon 35mm camera.
It certainly isn't rust! What seems to happen is that there is some sort of electrolytic reaction between the base-metal (steel, copper: whatever)and the metal that's coated or bonded onto it. the end result is a blistering in the form of lots of little bubbles all over the affected parts, where the two metals are parting company.

Curious, isn't it, how rude some people can be when they see something they don't feel might be true! I wonder what nationality they are?

Rob

these idiots talking about magnesium and aluminium are way off the mark. i've no idea if it could rust, since i don't know what the copper alloy is, but i could believe it.
