"poor rating = poor network options"
2.0 starson by 03296Pros: nice phone, features
Cons: -network options
Summary: Too bad this is on "...the network with the fewest dropped calls...". Cingular and other GSM carriers in North America are aware that CDMA works better here. That is why they have designed commercials in response to Verizon's "It's the Network" ADs. But beware: Those bars dissappear when you press the green talk button. One by one, they actually do go away. I don't know why. If you do get a signal after pressing the talk button, stand still where you are.

As Motorola is quite sensitive to frivolous lawsuits in the U.S. claiming cancer and/or brain damage from cellphone use, their phones neatly drop their transmit levels to that needed to carry the call *and no more.* Personally, I prefer having a phone that won't bake my brain (or my hip, where it sits when I use the Bluetooth). Shame you gigged the phone for Cingular's perceived issues. The phone's stellar, IMHO, and I've personally never had any issues at all with Cingular (coverage, service, or otherwise). Can't say that about others (it's pretty bad when you live in a suburban area and can't get signal in your own den). Enjoy the phone -- I sure do!

I have this phone on the cingular network and as for bars I have great reception always with no dropped calls I DUMPED Verizon for Cingular because of the garbage customer service and the worthless phones as for GSM over CDMA well you had better do some homework because the GSM is a much better network as you can see from what is the most widely used in Europe where their services leave us in the dust and none of them are CDMA and I have yet to see a CDMA 3G Network and that joke Verizon calls a Network is not and never will be 3G.
