"Battery Life is dreadful"1.5 starson by theAutumnZephyr
Pros: thinness, durable
Cons: battery life and hard to type on keypad
Summary: Unfortunately, I've been very disappointed with the battery life on my razr. I received it June 22, 2006 and the battery lasted 12-14 hrs (if that) on standby mode, which is odd. Verizon ran tests on it and said it was fine, but I insisted (after three calls and two visits) that they at least change my battery. The new battery lasts about 22 hrs on standby mode. 22 hrs is still not acceptable if you're running around all day or traveling AND using the phone. My previous LG, which ran in color mode (the excuse the techician gave me for the razr's poor battery life), ran on standby mode for at least 2.5 days. Maybe my razr is an anomaly. Also, the phone's keypad is extremely cumbersome to text message with. The flat silver plate that covers the keyboard is too stiff and unresponsive. I feel like I have to somehow break in the plate, which hasn't been working so far.
Although I must say that it has been fairly durable so far. I've dropped it once on the floor - barely any scratches and works.
I don't recommend it though and regret my decision. The phone has a few extra features, albeit very limited, but I don't need a phone with a camera or that plays mp3s. I have my canon and iPod for that. I just wanted a phone that would last without frequent charges. It's too late for me to switch phones (I wanted to give the razr the benefit of the doubt), and I will think twice now before taking any free offer from Verizon (I received it for free through the every two year program).Updated
I revisited the Verizon store yesterday, and was told this time around that 10-12 hrs battery life is expected of these new razrs (although the first time I went, they said it was 22 hours). Ah well. The tech updated the phone's software to help with the battery life. On average, I'm still getting about 9 hours with some airtime, and a bit more on just standby. I really do believe this problem isn't as wide spread. I hope everyone's having better luck than I am.
