"Problems with USB"
2.0 starson by teaguejbPros: great form factor; great sound quality; great features
Cons: usb drivers don't work; battery life not great
Summary: I was told by Verizon yesterday that there is a problem with the usb drivers for this phone and that there is no timeframe for the release of a patch which will correct this problem. One analyst with Verizon told me that it has at times taken 3-6 months for such software fixes. This renders one of the phone's most useful features (usb sync) nonfunctioning. I don't want to pay for Vcast subscription when I can simply put my own music on the phone via my pc. Grrr. Hopefully they'll fix this because otherwise the phone is very good.

Motorola has already released an update for the Phone Tools that allows you to use Windows Media Player 10 or above to sync your music with your phone. Go to their website and search for it.

Previous post lists djteva.com/razr/ as containing a fix for the problem. Any one give it a try yet? Results?

Never bother with Verizon rep, they're always light years behind. You can get the USB driver fix here:

http://djteva.com/razr/

along with directions on how to set up with windows Media 10 to transfer your music. some guy put this package together and it's working perfect for me.

Yeah, I had a problem with the USB drivers too. Still haven't gotten them to work. I don't know who is more to blame, Verizon, or Microsoft (it's typical Windows Driver Hell). I don't have a need for USB sync. I can sync the phone with my PowerBook via bluetooth. I only tried to get the driver working on my old Windows XP notebook for the purposes of moving music. But since it doesn't work, I just put music directly onto the card using a media card reader. So the USB problem hasn't really prevented me from enjoying the phone.
