"Be Wary of Sprint with this Phone" on by zrogerz69

Pros: Design, 1.3 MP Camera, Free 64 mb Memory Card, Bluetooth

Cons: Lots of Bugs/Errors (New Phone for Sprint), Battery Life

Summary: I added this phone to my plan on the 29th, and it has been nothing but problems. Although i got the phone for free as a promotion, because it was extremely new it also came with a lot of bugs and imperfections.

Right off the bat the pcs vision services on the phone were inoperable. I called sprint tech support, probably for a total of 3 or 4 hours minimum who tried every possible thing over the phone to fix it, and didn't work. They referred me to go to my local sprint store, who further referred me back to customer service. I was finally able to get my phone replaced today, but am very unsatisfied. The sprint technicians were unable to even TRANSFER MY CONTACTS. Had to spend over an hour entering contacts off a piece of paper.

I would recommend that anyone getting this phone, hold off for a while until sprint works all the bugs out and is able to fully support it.

Now for a review of the phone, and not sprint's lousy tech support:

Sprint's phone itself is very nice, with the phone coming with a charger and 64 mb transflash card with minisd adapter. The design of the phone is perhaps the best part, being a classic razr look. The menus on the phone look nice, but are rather slow and sluggish, but not unusable. The phone also has an integrated 1.3 mp camera and video recorder. It takes decent pictures, but nothing comparable to a standalone camera. Supposedly the phone is able to work for high speed data access, but since i received a defective phone (many others have had this same problem, the sprint tech said), was not able to review this. It also has an integrated music player, in which you can load mp3s onto the memory card or download them from the sprint store for $2.50 a pop. The memory card is nice, but inconvienient to use as it is placed so you have to remove the battery to access it. Also, sprint includes bluetooth 1.2, but it is crippled and doesn't allow for data transfers. However, you can use headsets with no problem. Also, if you want to pc sync, you have to buy their software and cable, motorola phone tools.

"3 strikes you're out" on by fordag

    Pros: Slim design

Cons: major software problems, short battery life, phone ceases to function as it should

Summary: So I'm on my second V3m, I won't be getting a third. The problems I've had include, gradual slowing of menu scrolling and text/number entry. I dial a phone number and it slowly apears number by number a few seconds after I've dialed it. Text messaging stopped working after a while, not being able to keep up with my entries and putting in incorroect characters. I'm by no means a speed typist. The keypad light goes out while you're enterint text. Bluetooth headset usage kills the battery very quickly. Will not let me update the phone software.

"Good effort on Motorola's part paired with horrible Sprint service" on by conantheaccountant

Pros: Nifty new features on an improved Razr.

Cons: Hardware does not exist in a vacuum; Sprint service is horrendous and I'm not exaggerating.

Summary: I owned a Razr before the V3 and I've got to hand it to Motorola for making a nice product even better. But I have to give low points because hardware doesn't exist in a vacuum. Sprint service killed whatever pleasure the new features of the V3 could have brought.

In the first few weeks, I had inconsistent performance from the battery. Finally, when the phone died after a full night's charge and two short calls, I wanted answers. I spent hours talking to Sprint representatives at the Sprint store and on the phone. An entire afternoon was wasted as they unsuccessfully attempted to upgrade the software and as they tried to push me off to Motorola and the retail store where I purchased the Sprint phone and plan.

A few important nuggets of wisdom for new Sprint customers:

    1. Do not dial "611" to get to customer service. Unlike T-Mobile, Sprint takes those minutes from your anytime minutes.

    2. Customer service is not open late. If you've got a job, you will likely be taking time away from the clock to address issues with Sprint.

    3. Do not expect to speak to a supervisor. I initially thought that the person identifying himself as a "supervisor" only sounded a lot like the same person I was just speaking to because of the geographical location of the call center, but after a few similar calls and confirmation from notations on Sprint's system, I realized that they were just pretending to move me up the supervisory chain.

My experience with Sprint customer service left me with the indelible impression that something was seriously broken in the Sprint organization. That they would pay a customer service rep for over 5 hours to accomplish nothing but give the customer the run-around and leave the customer with a blown gasket, speaks of an executive that forgot basic economics.

Because of the battery issues, I haven't been able to use much of the phone's V3 features. If you've had an early model Razr or even another Motorola phone, I think you will enjoy the V3. That is, if you go with a provider other than Sprint.

I should mention, here, that I purchased a Blackberry device with T-Mobile at about the same time. The difference in service was night-and-day. I was able to speak to a T-Mobile representative at 2:00 in the morning who transfered me to a Blackberry specialist who knew the product well and was able to troubleshoot all my problems. Absolutely amazing that these two companies are in the same industry.

    Updated
I just received my second billing statement from Sprint. My first bill from Sprint had me pay for a full month in advance. Now I get a bill for the same period with no indication on the statement that I already paid for this billing period on that first statement.

Has anybody out there paid for the same billing period twice? What is wrong with this company? I am frustrated and outraged by all these errors on the part of Sprint.
    Updated
After the horrible experience at the Sprint store and 611 Sprint customer service with the battery issue, I decided to email Sprint regarding the incorrect billing statement. Their automatic reply stated a response time within 24 hours. They lied.

I'm still waiting for Sprint to do something right.

    "Awesome Phone" on by chix0r

Pros: Camera, Memory Card, Size, Display, Sounds, Charge Time, Appearance.

Cons: Battery Life, Turning On Time, No Flash.

Summary: The Motorola RAZR V3m is an awesome phone in my opinion.

    [Camera] --

    Pros:
The camera is great. The pictures have great quality and size. I've turned my phone into my own digital camera.
    -----
    Cons:
    No flash. :(

    [Size]--

Pros: The slim design makes it easy for me to put it in smaller places, and even hide it when I don't want it to be seen
    -----
    Cons: None

    [Battery]--

Pros: Slender (of course),easy to remove and put back in, charges quickly.
    -----
Cons: Dies quickly [I'm assuming from due to the screen]

    [Memory Card]--

Pros: Ablility to easily transfer photos onto my PC insted of having to buy a cord, or sending them via Texting.
    -----
Cons: The card inside the phone is SO tiny, it can be easily lost or damaged. When I first bought the phone, removing the card was SO hard, I was afraid I would hurt it. I finally got it out and it comes out now with ease and replacing is also an ease.

    [Charging]--

Pros: Quick charge time, able to charge before battery completely drains. [Phone notifies when its okay to charge]
    -----
    Cons: None

    [Sounds]--

Pros: Sound is GREAT. Crisp, and loud. It plays .Mp3's wonderfully
    ----
    Cons: None

    [Apperance]--
Pros: The large screen is rich in color and the external display is NICE.
    -----
Cons: Its probably eatting up the battery life.

Thats all of the basic features I could really think of right now. Overall this phone is great for anyone wanting a basic phone with extra bells and whistles. I basically got this phone for the slim design, 1.3 megapixel cam/video recorder, and for basic calling. The reception is great, and the sound is clear and loud. The only thing I don't like about the phone is when it gets cold and you call someone, its really cold on your ear :P.

"All the features and benefits I need" on by i_t_xpert

Pros: SLIM!, interface, & functionality , sync contacts & info w/ computer, loud speakerphone, MP3 player, big screen, caller ID

Cons: Battery life not as long as my Sanyo 8200

Summary: I have had this phone for about 4 months and it is GREAT! Its has all of the features of an iPOD + more. I bought this software at the sprint store where I can sync my contacts & calendar with my computer. Over all, its a good, thin, and easy to use phone.
